Christmas and birthdays...

this thought came to me this morning, as i was lying in bed, trying to figure out which end is up.... the jws dont celebrate christmas, the birth of christ their savior.... because in earlier times, the same date was used to celebrate the return of the sun, the winter solstice.... (by the way, celebrating the return of the sun makes a lot of sense... no sun - no life..... we know the sun is there, we know what it does, no such thing about a god...) .

but i regress.. so, because on this date, pagans used to celebrate the sun, the jws dont want to celebrate christs birth..... its a little bit like not wanting to celebrate the birthday of a loved one, because he/she was born on the same day as a bad guy in history, like hitler, or napoleon, or slobodan milosevic, or saddam hussein, or osama bin laden... etc.... hmmm... my thinking is flawed, because, of course, the jws dont celebrate birthdays either.... question : did they first decide that christmas was evil or birthday celebrating was ?.

Don't tell me there isn't a Santa Claus, I saw him at my job last night. He even said he was Santa. Only thing I saw that didn't resemble Santa is that he has red hair. Other than that he looked just like him. Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig belly that shook like a bowl full of jelly when he laughed. He has a beard too. So, don't tell me there isn't a Santa, cause I saw him with my own two eyes QQ

spray paint "merry christmas" across the front of my old hall thursday night.

we were back in ky to visit my grandparents and we had to drive by my old hall while driving to a friend's house.

everyone's cars were parked neatly in a row outside (about 10 or 13 cars, it was always a small cong.).

as the unfortunate school-age children of jws worldwide, or at least in christendom, face up to two of what must certainly be the most dreaded days of the school year -- today and monday, i don't think it would be remiss to do pay them tribute -- the honor of a brief recognition of some sort, say by the raising of a glass, a prayer, a couple moments' reflection, whatever.. i refer to all those of the trembling knees, quivering lips, moistened eyes and hollow feelings in the pits of their little tummies as they loyally face up to the humiliation of standing aside from the masses of christmas celebrants among their school friends.

how they must agonize over dealing with the incessant questions of their mates about ``what are you going to do this christmas," ``what did santa bring you?

'' -- not to mention listening to the spirited banter of their school friends recounting how much fun they had and what they found under tree christmas morning, etc.

you cannot be partaking of the table of jehovah and the table of demons.1 corinthians 10:21.. these inspired words of the apostle paul show that two figurative tables are set before mankind.

each table is identified by the kind of symbolic food placed upon it, and all of us are eating at one or the other.

YoYo, what you posted is a persons views of the Bible. If one want's to know what the Bible says, one should go to the source. Each individual has their own interpretations, and many twist the words to fit their own interpretations.

I learned a few years, when I want to know what the Bible says, to just read it.

Why not read 1st John 2:27 it tells us that we do not need that man teach us. The holy Spirit teaches us.
The Bible also says not to put your trust in men. That is what the JW's are doing, they are trusting man to teach them.

Wasn't Ray already out of the religion when the WT joined the UN as an NGO? If so I doubt he would know to much. I'm sure it doesn't surprise him in the least though.
