Braincleaned, that is a great letter and I'm glad it has already helped people.
It makes sense to me. It points out where the GB is going against their own supposed beliefs; it doesn't detract from its meaning if they are not your beliefs.
today, i was pissed.
so i wrote an official open letter to the borg.
i'm posting it everywhere i can.. .

so one of my in-laws, a born in dub, started asking me questions about the issues i am having with the religion.
so i told her, rather carefully, how i discovered all the child pedophile cases, went over some of the case details, explained it is occurring all over the world, so isn't just some random misunderstanding, but is widespread hiding of child sex u all abuse.
she was horrified.
When I was in my teens, I knew of a nearby congregation where some kids were being sexually abused by members of two families. One of the elders wanted to warn anyone with kids in that congregation and in nearby congregations, and all of the other elders were trying to force his silence. In the end I heard he stepped down from being an elder.

What...more donations? It was bad enough with the "contribution" box and the "www" box.
how's these comments in this weeks study?.
i understood that i had neglected my children when they most needed my guidance and affection, admits eduardo.
i had not been there to read them bible stories, to pray with them, to cuddle them, and to play with them.
True point, Blondie... In my mother's congregation an elder's son got DF'ed. I heard he joined the army after that (probably because after growing up in the JWs with an elder for a father he didn't know how to think or decide anything for himself, so he needed to find someone else to push him around).

I was raised by a single mother (as far as I can understand from the little bits I've heard, my father kicked her out when she wouldn't stop preaching to him and his parents). Every morning she read the text at breakfast; she pioneered and cleaned houses while I was at school; we attended every meeting and prepared in great depth for all of them; she enforced extra family study every week; I struggled to do my homework while she was cooking or doing housework or after she went to bed; we trudged around the blocks on Saturdays and often Sundays as well.
My mother got a small allowance from the government for being a single parent. She struggled to pay the bills and put food on the table and petrol in the car (in fact, sometimes we walked everywhere for months on end because she couldn't aford to keep the car running), but money went in the box every week. If my grandparents gave me some money as a present, whether it was $5 or $50, my mother forced me to put it in the box.
Meanwhile, she was too busy with her ministry and her hopes for the future and her goals for both of us in the organisation that she had no idea about anything that was going on in my head and in my life.
I did get baptised when I was 16 but I left when I was 18. I don't believe my baptism meant anything since I'd never been allowed to think.
How are children supposed to "make the truth their own" if they are not allowed to know about anything else?
My mother is likely one of those sitting at home tonight, praying through her tears, asking where she went wrong. Where she went wrong was in joining that dangerous cult in the first place, but I don't know if she will ever understand that. She actually seems to believe in it!

Oh yes, HeyThere, the thing that I find most disturbing about that story is that Lott would rather give his daughters to the mob than have them rape the angels! So disgusting!

she forced a stick down my throat and made me eat my own vomit': daughter abused by adoptive mother for 20 years tells of torture and fears over her imminent release from prisonvictoria evans was tortured by her adoptive mother eunice spryshe was starved for three months at a time and violently abused.
forced to live in a wheelchair for four years .
I guess if anyone in the congregation knew or suspected anything they hushed it up...as usual.
so my mother was telling me that a transexual, don't know if she's pre or post op (nobody does apparently), has started attending meetings and started a bible study.. she answers up in meetings and has been attending a few weeks.
apparently she looks very much like a woman but has a distinctive masculine voice.
i asked my mother what will happen?
Since we are discussing a transwoman...it bothers me that so many of you are refering to her as a he
been thinking about this and curious about what makes us all come to the decisions we came to in our fade/exiting the jw organization.. i think for myself having been born-in & raised a jw my doubts about the generation doctrine had simmered for years within me quietly and by the time i finally left in 2003 i had reached my breaking point.
also seeing unjust treatment of rank & file witness ( myself included ) just propelled me into my decision even quicker.
so - one day after meeting with 3 elders in a back room before a meeting and seeing their judgmental aggression towards me - i just told myself " enough is enough ".
Wow!...Chickpea...i cried when i read your comments. I wish i could expect my mother to make the choices you have in advocating for your son. I also am ftm transgender...have moved to the oposite side of town from my mother and from all the jws who knew me. I am not "out" to my mother yet so am in constant fear of running into her unexpectedly. I think very soon i will have no choice but to disassociate myself officially and tell her who i really am and have everyones judgements out of the way so i can get on with my life.
i recently moved back to my home town after being away for several years and doing the "fade".
i have family still in, so people heard that i was back in town.
i got six invitations to the memorial and a couple of phone calls about the special talk.
They were very determined not to let me fade into the background. I ended up moving to the other side of town. My mother stil sometimes gives out my number to jws even tho i have asked her not to and i stopped going about 5 years ago. I still get jws turning up at my door, i never answer but sometimes my housemate does if he doesnt realise who they are and they get very agro about things. I have been putting it off but now for various reasons i think it will be safer to just disassociate myself. I mean...my mother is going to be forced to basicly disown me anyway so who gives a dam.
