After leaving the Faith, do you celebrate all of the Holidays?
by Quarterback ini could never understand how some who don't follow some of the moral restrictions in the jw faith, are strong against celebrating the .
religious holidays such as christmas, and easter etc.. do you celebrate the holidays knowing some of their origins?.

I am trying to figure out my future if I should go to college or just keep working a regular job...............................
by andys ini am faced with a dilema right now and need some advice on what i should do with my future, i realize that eventually i'll grow old and will need to somehow work my way up so i have something to fall back on, like someone told me once i don't really have a support structure to fall back on, if something happened where i could not work i would probably wind up homeless, moving back in with my parents house would be out of the question because i would never go back to the borg.. this is my situation right now, everything is going good, i love my job, i am single no kids, i work at a hosptal making $10/hour doing janitorial work, also my rent is very cheap about $350 a month for rent on a duplex, i live less then a mile from work, right now i have the most ideal situation to save alot of money even on $10/hr job, but also i realize that everything can go all at once, if i ever lost my job since i don't have no support structure and could not find work i would be sol.. now to some of the things i like doing, i like to drive, one of the things i have always wanted to do is learn truck driving, since i don't have no extra responsibilites, i am still having a hard time though making a decision, on one hand i like my current job, but on the other hand i realize that i do have to plan for the future, if anyone can give me some advice i am at a loss of what to do, also because of the way the econommy is here in the us right now sometimes i think its best to stick with the job that i have but still don't know whats best..

Thats the answer I am looking for and I do have to agree that some degrees are truly worthless, I have worked around people who went to college but were unable to put their degree to any use only finding out their degree is worthless and still working a low paying job, also I will look into computer science and see what that has to offer and also look into a business degree.

I really liked what Rocky Girl said and I know my employer would work with me on my schedule if I decided to go to college, also I have one skill I exceed at and that is website design/ecommerce, for a very short time I was running an antique glassware business when i used to live at my parents, I had an ecommerce website up helping my parents sell their glassware but that all has gone out the window since I moved out, also I help a few businesses around town with their websites which I have alot of fun doing.

you will be judged as you are judging....
by cptkirk indoesn't this one bible passage just about discount 90% of the witnesses from getting into their new system?
they practically cornerned the market on sizing people up, and either discounting them or accepting them.
i honestly think they are in a state of constantly judging just about everyone around them, including their spouses.

This scripture is quoted right out of the New World Translation, right out of the JW's very own bible that they overlook:
John 12:47
47 But if anyone hears my sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I came, not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Even in their very own bible what that means is Jesus came to this world only to save and not to judge anyone, the JW's need to look at this scripture....................................

I finally understand why my very intelligent, logical, incredibly well read dad/elder is incapable of the ability to reason on jw teachings he receives on the wi-fi144k/2b link
by oompa inhe can only start with the firm confiction.......no...the positive position that a certain teaching/topic is irrefutable... because it comes directly from god on his wi-fi144k/2b link ....then his and many other hardcore jws very ability to reason may be lost as it is with my dad.
ah (overused jw word) but in order to reason your way to an answer on any topic...you must be able to consider and meditate (overused jw word) various information, other possibilities, alternate positions that may a better answer to or better define the topic.
uh-uhh...he cant do that...because he already has all the answers...not only is there is no need to really reason on the topic, but the very ability is totally removed....even for a man as smart as my dad...he cant even consider an alternate view that may be more correct, because there cant be one more correct than that of wt .

When I used to live at my parents house I was running my own antique glassware business and learned alot about packing glassware, what I found out very helpful is wrap the glassware and anything fragile in newspaper and also padding, but also don 't wrap anything too tight because also too tight glassware can break.

Also thinking about how flawed the Watchtower is on their theology of people living forever on a paradise on earth, lets say everyone is perfect, no one is dying, everyone keeps having babies, as there is more people on the planet earth the population rate keeps getting faster and faster and then also considering there is the resserection, by the time everyone is resserected the population rate is growing way to fast that the planet earth runs out of room.............................................
Also I looked at some other numbers:
An estimated 77 million babies are born each year
Estimated 56 million people die each year
Right now at 6 billion people on the planet earth thats about 20 million that the population increases each year, to me mortality makes alot of sense compared to the Watchtowers idea of people living forever on the earth after looking at the numbers.
