Stop the war
by Diogenesister inhttp://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=d9bk76nb6bk please watch this link to a really great american video which features a touching clip of a dad trying to treasure & explain things to his son as they are both caught up in the paris attacks.
it starts with an interview with a muslim victim of the attacks and ends with wise words on the effects of war on kids everywhere , including american sanctioned drone strikes in syria.
its about 10 mins long..

Drop all the bombs you want, fire all the muntions you have and kill the fanatics you can but I guarantee you will not win the war, only battles against the countless new threats which will replace those before them. There are fundamentalists waging jihad across 5 continents and in dozens of countries. The issue extends far beyond ISIS or Al-Qaeda. The fact that Al-Quaeda and the Taliban (who incidentally are growing stonger by the day) are still alive and kicking despite years of earnest fforts to erradicate them, proves there is an endless line of willing jihadists willing to step forward into the ranks and wage their holy war regardless. It's not organizations that are the problem, it's the belief in superstition which provides the means for those seeking to manipulate others that is the problem, be it Islam, Christianity or African ancestral worship. Fundamentalism will never go away until such time that those subscribing to these superstitions decide for themselves they want no part of it simply because they accept it as nonsense and nothing more than a means to have their emotions manipulated. You can declare all you like that not all religious people wish to impose their superstitions beliefs on others, but the fact is as long as those beliefs are allowed to exist there will also be those exploiting believers and even in minorities, they can be influenced to affect society in the most severe ways. This is why I and others are so vehemently opposed to superstitious "faith" and come across as being unreasonable, unfeeling and often seen as "bullies". Your freedom to believe in superstitions affects everyone, not just you.
Incidentally, it is not superstition alone which provides the perfect petri dish for manipulation. Any emotion is capable of allowing one to be manipulated - even love. Not allowing our emotions to dictate our behaviour but instead allowing positive emotions to enhance clear thinking is key. If humans are to progress to the next level of psychological evolution, we HAVE to stop letting our emotions preside over our thought process and make an earnest effort to think critically.
Just my two cents.

Should Jehovah`s Witnesses be worshiping Jehovah ? or Jesus.
by smiddy injehovah`s christian witnesses , as they like to be known as , used to worship jesus in earlier times ,but now they do not worship jesus .
they worship a god named jehovah , who they admitted in the first edition of " aid to bible understanding " was not the correct pronunciation of the tetragrammaton `s four letter hebrew letters that represented god` name , by the way , a catholic monk of the 13th century came up with jehovah by just adding a couple of vowels.. to those four hebrew letters .which has since been revised to correctly translate the tetragrammaton as yhwh and many scholars put this name more accurately as yahweh or something more similar.. fact 1 .
the tetragrammaton does not appear in the " kingdom interlinear of christian greek scriptures " printed by the wtb&ts , a word for word translation of the greek scriptures.

I'm a cynical, sarcastic and curmudgeonly old bastard most of the time.
by nicolaou inbut as i move into my early 50's i find i'm more and more comfortable in my thick, leathery hide.. please get it into your thick skull's that i don't insult or make snarky comments with the intent of hurting anyone's feelings.
that being said, if your precious feelings are hurt it's probably your fault for being a prissy, over sensitive drama queen who can't defend his argument.. i do actually love you all, it's just that most of the time you spineless pussies really get on my nerves!.
good god i feel better for that!

Sanders or Clinton. I really like Sanders and its possible that if he were president he would break the problem of American politics being "lobbyists business as usual". How he would pan out with foreign policy or security is an uneasy uncertainty.
There is not a single Republican I would go for until they dropped their religious rhetoric.

My first post
by thewalker inhi, i just joined the board and wanted to present myself.. i'm active, in fact very active in congregation activities serving "where the need is great" in a foreign language congregation somewhere in western europe.
as a young brother, i'm seen as an example as i'm doing all a good witness should do.. i had doubts years ago but i decided just to ignore them and move to another congregation to preach more.
that worked for some years but i'm now at the exact same point.

Evolution and Creation—both are stories!
by lsw1961 inthere are number of nobel laureates and other great scientists in both the camps defending their respective theories of evolution and creation, which means both are just stories, and both suffer from having no eye-witnesses.
if either of them were true, all scientists would have accepted it unanimously as they do with rest of the laws such as law of gravity..
this does not mean that there is no god.

Dear OP:
I completely identify with your logic. Allow me to explain your post so everyone will have a better understanding.
Round wheels travel faster on water than bananas can sing purple melodies to clay bricks while strumming on chordless banjos to the the anthem of hamburgers except on Thursdays when Mars goes on its yearly vacation to Florida to play golf with quadriplegic penguins.
Perhaps you and Iconloclastic might learn from my post so as to help people understand you better.

Book Review: The Hunt for Vulcan: . . . And How Albert Einstein Destroyed a Planet, Discovered Relativity, and Deciphered the Universe
by Viviane ini recently read this book and found it to be excellent.
it's the story of how we never stop knowing, how science works (even when it doesn't), how gracefully math can describe the world we live in and more.
the story begins with how sir isaac newton, author of pricipia mathematica and holder of the lucasian chair at cambridge, developed math to describe the gravity and the motion of the planets with no need god holding them in place.

Are You Easily Offended? 😠
by minimus ini'm sick and tired of everyone claiming to be "offended".
if you are not politically correct, you will need to apologize for some perceived slight.. when i was an elder, i purposely avoided as much as i could, anybody that got easily offended.
