Thanks for bringing that thread up. I have read some of those points before elsewhere and have seen YouTube videos mentioning some of those points. But looking at that bullet point revision really gives a complete picture of how whacky JTR was. I dont't get how people can buy into prophecies. To me those seem like the writings of a mad man - period.

Excerpts from "The Book that Jesus Approved"
by clarity infunny how the catholics see jesus outline on a sheet or on a piece of toast & revere it, but jw's just throw away books that they say jesus looked at and accepted as the only truth !

Are You A Thinker And A Lurker?
by konceptual99 inif you are a lurker then you are probably a thinker.
you will already be wondering about a number of aspects of jw doctrine and how they stack up against reason, logic and modern scientific evidence.
if so, then i appeal to you to meditate and reason on one implication arising from the latest news that the next publication will be a simplified version of an already simplified book.

A simple explanation for the financial changes
by JeffT inas i've mentioned from time to time, i'm a retired accountant.
i have tried many times to come up with some logical, sound business reason why the wtbs has made the big changes in its financial arrangements: taking the congregations savings, the monthly donations per congregation etc.
i finally came up with the answer.. the leadership of the watchtower society is batshit crazy.

Whatever the reasons, it sure is fun imagining the crew in a panic while the ship takes on water. -

I,would love to know what will go through the minds of my zombie mother and brother when they get to learn about all these sudden events. No doubt the two assholes will accept any explanation and prep their cyanide drinks with great enthusiasm. -

Brooklyn Layoffs and Halt to Kingdom Hall construction projects
by James Jack ina good source just just told me that at morning worship today that the governing body announced that a total of 1600 bethelites will be let get go and not transferred to warwich when the last property is sold in brooklyn and all kingdom hall building projects are on hold for at least a year so that all the focus will be on the preaching work.

I know this sounds mean, but I have a hard time feeling bad for people who've set themselves up to be screwed.
Not mean at all, you're quite correct. Besides, the Bethelites I knew in SA (and from what I understand, here in the US too) have always had a superiority complex. Screw them, let's see how superior they are in the secular work force with their theocratic qualificatioms. Have fun flipping burgers boys and girls. -

Officials in Remote Northern Canada Thank Jehovah’s Witnesses for Special Bible Education Campaign
by OrphanCrow inthis article was published by the wts on their website.. i find this jw practice of targeting vulnerable populations to be so disturbing.
the last thing that canadian aboriginal communities need is yet another institution that victimizes their members.. http://www.jw.org/en/news/releases/by-region/canada/inuit-bible-education-northern-canada/.

Staying out of their lives though I don't know? What I meant by that was not interfering with their lifestyle. If you are interacting with them in a way that does not conflict with their lives and genuinely help - as in a medical volunteer role - You have my full support.

Child care and abortion - two examples of the complexity of the issue
by fulltimestudent inin a perfect world, one would hope that no woman would need to consider an abortion.
there is unfortunately, no perfect world and there does not seem there will ever be a perfect world.
so consider .... 1. a child rape case in paraguay.. ... but the plot unfolding in paraguay is so dark and twisted that it is currently tearing the south american country apart.it began on april 21 when a mother brought her 10-year-old daughter to a public hospital.

Perry:
What she went through is awful. It seems she recovered well, thankfully. Too bad she attributes her survival and our human accountability to a myth. Still, I don't know how prolific this sort of incident is, either way I don't know how any human being can strangle a child to death and it certainly disgusts me even as Someone who supports abortion.

One of the reasons I hate religion so much is from witnessing first hand what it has done to African natives. People tend to call me a "anti religion fanatic" and I'll admitt that I often tend to react very aggressively when I hear anything that has to do with missionary work. I don't care if those missionaries or their supporters think they have "good intentions" - they don't. And during popular uprisings in Africa when missionaries are targeted I feel zero sympathy for their slaughter. Stay out of their culture and lives and you won't get hurt - period. -

Update on sisters threatened with rape
by Xanthippe inyesterday i had an email from amnesty international about the two sisters in an indian village who were sentenced by the village elders to be raped as a punishment for their brother falling in love with a woman from another hindu caste and eloping with her.. amnesty do a great deal of good work but the real force is individuals who sign the petitions and send letters and emails to political leaders.
people power folks, it really works.
for those of us who signed the petition and the rest of the over 300,000 people who did, meenakshi and her young sister thank you.

First time unwitnessing to a stranger
by C0ntr013r ini was sitting on a train, across from me was a middle-aged man reading: "knowledge that leads to everlasting life" .
it was in english which is not the native language here.
it was underlined so i figured he was either a foreign jw or a study.

The fact that you made an attempt in itself deserves applause.
