  are the governing body of the wt wickedly smart with extremely high iq or are they leaders of the wt because they were at the right place at the right time.

  (in other words, pure luck )-think lottery.

  ive seen them talk in jwtv and you can never convince anyone in the whole world that these guys are in the same category as someone smart or cunning like jim simons who founded renaissance technologies or bill gates.

  We all grow up fearing death. Most people find a way to get on with healthy, productive lives by accepting an ideology which teach eternal life or come to realize that death is a natural part of life and actually serves a real purpose and helps to make one comfortable with one's own mortality. Whichever you choose, being the master of your fears will will serve you well.

  Welcome! You've had a tough life so I hope it's a lot better for you now that your mind is free. It goes to show, higher learning certainly makes it easier to identify the nonsense associated with religion but if you have common sense and and inquiring mind, those alone can be as good as any education in calling bullshit when things don't add up. Happy to have your common sense and inquiring mind amongst us!

  Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief

  if a thread has been made about this i apologize.. if anyone has not seen the latest hbo documentary release, "going clear: scientology and the prison of belief" i cannot recommend highly enough that you watch it.

  as the majority of us here are either survivors of or still trapped in a cult ourselves, this documentary will most certainly intrigue you.

  it's the most in-depth and extensively researched documentary on scientology ever and features interviews with ex-scientologists who were right at the top until they fell foul of their megalomaniacal, paranoid chairman of the board, david miscavige.. i have read some of l. ron hubbard's books out of curiosity and outright dismissed them as utter nonsense.

  If anyone has not seen the latest HBo documentary release, "Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief" I cannot recommend highly enough that you watch it.

  As the majority of us here are either survivors of or still trapped in a cult ourselves, this documentary will most certainly intrigue you. It's the most in-depth and extensively researched documentary on Scientology ever and features interviews with ex-scientologists who were right at the top until they fell foul of their megalomaniacal, paranoid Chairman of the Board, David Miscavige.

  I have read some of L. Ron Hubbard's books out of curiosity and outright dismissed them as utter nonsense. Yet here are all these people trapped in what is probably THE most oppressive and destructive cult of modern times.

  I had no idea the way the cult controlled its members ran so parallel with the the bOrg.

  They also practice disfellowshipping but it's called "disconnecting" and the results are identical.

  They have apostates but call them "Suppressive persons" and are treated identically.

  If you think the JW cult is harsh, watch this documentary- Scientology is brutal with actual prisons and re-education camps, physical torture - the whole shebang. After you leave you aren't just shunned, you're blackmailed, stalked, smeared and sometimes even assaulted.

  There is some great footage from both clandestine footage confiscated by the authorities and some old interviews with the crook-liar L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology.

  This documentary will astound you, I promise!

  It seems a lot of ex-JWs have been set up for failure in the real world and the longer you were "in" the more lasting and detrimental the effects. So many of the threads on this forum prove it.

  I like you Punk and I'm concerned about you. Obviously you are bitter for what you feel they have done to you - I know I am for what they did to my sister. But I'm worried your feeling of hoplessness is causing you some depression.

  You're writing a book and I assume this is something you're passionate about. Try to concentrate on your passions, get out and go exploring. Keep that nice mind of yours occupied with positive things. don't let what that sick cult did to you determine your self worth or define you. You're way better than that my friend.

  You're readimg too much into your responsibilities in this relationship. Clearly you are a person with a conscience and accept responsibility for your actions and thought process. He on the other hand sounds irresponsible, insecure and immature. Sounds to me the only reason you began to lie was because he already had you pegged as one - that is disrespectful on his part and certainly a form of abuse. My advice is: this guy sounds toxic, so get out before you reach the point where you feel like you've invested too much in the relationship to leave. You only have one life, no point in choosing to spend it with a person who has no respect for you.
