Refuting the ARGUMENT BY DESIGN.

it's tiresome and it doesn't add up but it's one of the most popular arguments for god's existence, "the argument by design.

" jehovah's witnesses and other believers point out a wonder of nature like the eye and compare it to a 'lesser' mechanical wonder of human design like a camera.

the supposed conclusion is that this natural wonder is evidence of creation by a powerful designer; god.. .

Not even going to go the usual route on this one. You realize that any "this is too complex to have been designed!" argument just isn't valid when we're talking about an almighty, all-power, all-knowing, infinitely-existing god that WAS NEVER DESIGNED? How is that any bit more reasonable than even believing a dumb watch can make itself? Suddenly a god that can make an infinite number of watches (in addition to the freakin' universe) doesn't need a designer?

Do you see now how the watchmaker argument is just lazy?

they also blatantly reverse the meaning of acts 17:11 by selectively quoting it, missing out completely the phrase 'as to whether these things were so".

I promise to bring this point out (if I'm still around them lol) in the study as a comment. In a way that expresses semi-confusion but is determined to twist it to fit, it should make people think. Example:

"And of course, not mentioned in the paragraph but the scripture goes on to mention that the Boreans checked to make sure that these things were so. So its interesting they decided to use this particular scripture and it may indicate that we TOO may have to do this, especially when the direction is something we don't immediately understand. Our own careful study of the scriptures can help us see whether these things are. so."

It should raise eyebrows (but not protests) when people realize that they would have heard in another meeting that "if we don't understand something from the Governing Body we should wait on Jehovah." Nope, not research or determine whether it is so, but wait on God almighty himself to reveal to us how correct these men were along. LOL.

apparently we had just been nailing the final nails in the blood doctrine (by way of discussing the wts flip-flopping) and discussing the (un) scriptural reason for the wts banning of beards.

i was surprised by how few the responses were and the ones that were there were very weak and not to the point.

Apparently we had just been nailing the final nails in the blood doctrine (by way of discussing the WTS flip-flopping) and discussing the (un) scriptural reason for the WTS banning of beards. I was surprised by how few the responses were and the ones that were there were very weak and not to the point. I don't know if it has any connection but later that night I tried replying to a few people and the place was closed. Shut down. Doesn't even exist.

I enjoyed that site because of the apologists there. I don't even know if they were actually brothers or just shills or people getting their time in that way. Eventually I learned some of the absolute ways of stumping a Witness (example: prove the Jews returned in 537 BCE without using the same secular sources that also prove 597 BCE) which were very beneficial to me. Oh well.
