About hell and dying GB members
by Mad Sweeney inon bio channel the other night was an episode of "i survived" where a guy was shot in the head and was dead for about five minutes, then in a coma for around four weeks after being revived.
while recounting his story, he talks about being literally in hell, chained within a tiny dark cell oppressed by evil all around for what felt like forever.
he attributes his visit there to having a selfish, materialistic lifestyle at the time of his death and he has vowed to turn his life around so that when he dies again, he won't have to return there.

@ MS: I understand your point completely, and agree, no matter what causes the "heavenly" or "hellish" experience, that it certainly would be justice. Let's just hope that those of the GB, like Jaracz, are/were actually aware of how horrible their actions are/were. Then their brains have something to work with, i.e. a guilty conscience.
@ Outlaw: "Do you want our autograph? There's one our OUR Bibles right here! We can all sign it for you!"

Does anyone high up in the organization KNOW they use mind control techniques or is it just ingrained

Mad Sweeney, I've wondered that, too. It seems to me that most of the JWs way of operation today started with Rutherford. I haven't done any thorough research into JFR or who his closest associates were. Does anyone know if either JFR or any of his associates had any possible knowledge of psychology?

I'm unclear on something. Did this man experience his hell during the 5 min he was dead, before being in the coma? Or did he feel that way while also in the coma?

Finished Mystery (1917)... The book that Jesus approved...
by Alfred inso a few months ago, a friend sent me an actual copy of finished mystery which was published in 1917 (not a pdf download... the actual book).
i must say, this was the most disturbing book i have ever had the displeasure of reading.
but i only read it because this was the main publication that was being distributed worldwide when jesus supposedly chose the watchtower in 1918 and i basically wanted to see for myself what jesus saw in the wt that would compel him to choose this religious corporation over all other religious denominations.. anyway, if anyone is interested in knowing the actual contents of this book, here are some bullet points i put together from some of the notes i took as i read the book:.

Very interesting. Thank you, Alfred!
14. According to Exodus 28:1 and Numbers 4:46-48, the number of the great crowd will be approximately 411,840,000 (p.103)
No wonder Armageddon hasn't come yet! This is going to take a while!
37. According to Revelation 21:17, the number of sheep at the end of the thousand-year reign will be approximately 20.7 Billion (p.323)
Things will be a little crowded.
43. The preachers of Christianity say things that originate in their own imagination (p.432)
That would NEVER be allowed today!
46. In fulfillment of Ezekiel 24:15-19, God took away Russell’s desire for his wife by putting a spiritual plague over her which made her “dead” in the eyes of Russell (p.483, p.484)
"No dear, you're still attractive. God took away my desire for you."

Re: Only using one sheet of toilet paper at assemblies
by Luo bou to ini have been living in china for several years now and my only fear was that one day, i would need to use one of their squat toilets.
i cant squat that close to the ground but the chinese can with their feet flat on the ground and without raising their heels .
so the day finally came when for several weeks i was forced to use one.

A baptism question for Morbidzbaby (and the rest of ya'll).....
by Mr. Falcon ini read morbidzbaby's comment on the post http://www2.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/206838/1/a-question-to-the-ex-jws were she said that she got baptized "hoping that it would sort everything out".
this got me thinking about the whole jw ritual of baptism and dedication.
i look back and recall that i never privately "dedicated" myself to anything or anyone before taking the "dip".. the wt teaching is that a person should privately dedicate (via prayer) themselves to jehovah before publically going through the ritual.

jgnat: I remember having a similar experience. Right after I was baptised I felt cleaner, more pure, lighter as if a load had been taken off of me. I was only 12!!! The worst I had done, as far as sins to be forgiven for, was I had had little boyfriends in school! Anyway, it wasn't too long after, maybe a year or so, that I realized I no longer had that "fresh start" feeling any more. I was so dissappointed that it didn't last.

I made a dedication prayer, but not because my heart was moved to do so. I did it because that was one of the steps to getting baptised in the OM (Organized to Accomplish Our Ministry, if memory serves me right) book. I was 12 and thought if I got baptised before my teens I would have even more of Jehovah's help to get me through those tough years I was about to face. I was df'd at 17, back in 6 months later. I got married that same year and da'd 9 years later to get out of the dark hell-hole that my life had become. I've NEVER been happier!!

Hello RiF. Good luck in your efforts. I was raised as a JW and would like to just share a couple thoughts I had while reading through all these great comments.
The person that helped me get out (unintentionally, I might add) asked questions or brought up issues he had and wanted to know what I believed. Being the eager JW that would "show him the light", I answered with a lot of info. What got me was that he then asked me to tell him what I believed, in my own words. I couldn't do it w/o using the WT lingo. Also, when I had to say, out loud, that the God of love was going to kill all the humans on earth that weren't JWs, that really struck something inside me. So you never know what small thing will reach them.
I wish you all the best.

A roaring current of change.... Is The Watchtower in the process of a major overhaul of their religion?
by koolaid-man ina roaring current of change..... what is going on at the world headquarters of jehovah's witnesses?
in the last couple of years unprecedented changes in policy, procedure, and doctrine have been coming forth in rapid fire sequence.
this uninterrupted episode of new information is beginning to backfire for the rank and file witnesses.

A bit off thread, but the dumbing down of the literature is mandatory for a couple of reasons. First, (as was previously touched on) is that a large percentage of growth is made up of people with little to no access to any education. Also, since a college education is out of the question for JWs, the best they can do is a high school education level. If they hold to their stance on college, the R&F will eventually be made up of very few well-educated people. No wonder the KH is full of glassy eyes. The only thing worse than hearing the same inforamation over and over is a simplified version of that information.
