game winning homerun turns tragic - but then something amazing happenedwww.godvine.comafter this girl hit her first ever home run, she tore her acl running to first base.
just when tragedy was inevitable, something odd, yet amazing, happened.
watch this very touching video to see the inspirational outcome.
Amazing compassion and self sacrifice shown by 'worldly' people who are destined to be destroyed horribly by a loving God at armageddon unless they humour the JWs who come knocking at their doors lol.
It can't be said any better!
Hear, hear!
I wish I could show this to every JW that says participating in sports is bad.
Good things come in small packages.
Not even an inkling of a glimmer of a thought of going. It seemed pointless while I was still a JW! I told my ex that during a memorial one year. You should have seen the look on his face!
things i thought about during the memorial talk last night:.
i don't know if it was just the memorial i went to or if this was across the board, but it seems that the talk was dumbed down a bit more than it had been in the past.
not that it wouldn't surprise me if was dumbed down.
Great musings, UC. I especially liked your points on Adam and 1 Corinthians.
Several years before I left, the memorial started to seem pointless to me. I remember leaning over to my ex during one of them and actually said, "What's the point?" You should have seen the look on his face!!
ricky rocks.

JEPHTHAH AND HIS DAUGHTER
So, as a born-in I grew up believing that Jephthah's daughter went away to a sort of convent as the sacrifice for Jah's helping Jephthah's victory over the Ammonites. However, I watched Non Stamp Collector's Jephthah video and it didn't go according to the story, so I thought. Jephthah's daughter was sacrificed, as in burnt offering sacrificed! I checked the comments on the video expecting to see others complain that he had gotten it wrong. What I found was NSC stating that he had done research etc.
So then I read Judges 11 in a few different Bibles. Jephthah vowed to give the first out of his house as a burnt offering. NWT also says this.
The differences: vs 35
NWT "You have indeed made me bend down, and you yourself have become the one I was ostracizing"
NIV 2001 “Oh no, my daughter! You have brought me down and I am devastated"
NASB "You have brought me very low, and you are among those who trouble me"
NLT “You have completely destroyed me! You've brought disaster on me!"
NKJV "You have brought me very low! You are among those who trouble me!"
vs 40
NWT "From year to year the daughters of Israel would go to give commendation to the daughter of Jeph´thah"
NIV "each year the young women of Israel go out for four days to commemorate the daughter of Jephthah"
NASB "daughters of Israel went yearly to commemorate the daughter of Jephthah"
NLT "young Israelite women to go away for four days each year to lament the fate of Jephthah’s daughter."
NKJV "daughters of Israel went four days each year to lament the daughter of Jephthah"
In verse 35, ostracizing is added. Ostracizing is something very different from troubling, devastating, or bringing disaster upon! It is obviously added to help change the story.
Which story is then carried out in verse 40 by saying the the young women would go to give commendation to his daughter. She wasn't dead at all! NO HUMAN SACRIFICE HERE!!!! That, however, is VERY different from commemorating or lamenting her, which makes it obvious that the story states that Jephthah did, in fact, offer his daughter as a BURNT OFFERING!
So now I understand that in order to thank Jah of Armies for His help in killing the Ammonites, Jephthah killed and burnt his daughter!

a little background.
my youngest son 30 yrs.
was 12 yrs.
Since your son has said that he wants no part of that religion, then you need to encourage him to tell his mom that. Although it may hurt her feelings, she'll get over it. It's better than your son being miserable for the rest of his life in a religion he wants no part of just to please a person that wasn't even there for him when he needed her. Do all you can to support him in his decision.
