I think most everyone knows Larry. He gets around. And, the last I knew, he's not married. But, I heard he's dating the daughters of girls he used to date! And, some have said granddaughters! :-) They are of age, though. LOL

Hi. Well, guess what. I am from Indiana, Anderson to be exact. Lived in Indy for 11 years or so. Moved to Spartanburg SC in 1998. The people that you mention I remember by name. I grew up "in the truth." You know. So, I know a lot of people. Especially when I moved to Indy. I think you mentioned the Needhams. I was in a cong with them at Lawrence, seems like. I spent time at College Park, too. Lots of time there. Just wanted to say hello!
Anyone know Larry Liggette? (Not sure of spelling)

The coming "disassociations"
by Elsewhere ini have seen several threads about how the elders are going to be going around asking people if they still consider themselves to be jehovah's witnesses.
this will undoubtedly result in multiple da announcements in the coming months.
i'm curious how the average jw will perceive this and respond to it.

Interesting thread. This explains why someone called and talked to my 14 yo step-son, saying he knew me and asked if I was a JW. Of course, since I haven't attended a meeting for several years, my step-son said no. I wonder what they'll do with that???

I understand that sex for a woman is very mental (I didn't read all those "Young People Ask" articles for nothing! LOL)
That must be pretty cool. I have never heard of a guy doing that, though, even as visual as we are!

Hmmm... What do they do at those conventions? Well, different guys talk about the Bible from a stage, they sing songs. They pray. (Or is that prey???) They bring their lunches to eat. Watch the audience, and many sleep. Still, many others spend their times running up and down the stairs to the bathrooms. (Probably so they don't fall asleep.) Truthfully, they have lots of Bible Discourses that encourage the listeners to go back home and go door to door or to live a good family life.
Why won't he tell you? Who knows? Maybe he's embarrased? I'm sure he knows that you know he's a JW?
Interesting comment about Interfaith marriage. Was that published in some magazine? I would imagine that was talking about if one in a married couple becomes a JW and the other mate is of a different religion. If a person is not married, then you are bad, bad, bad, if you date another person who is not a JW. Why? Because that non-JW might help you see the light and quite being a JW.
:-)

I've heard this from more than ex-jw's. Lots of catholics have this problem, too.
Hey, you know, you gotta figure, if God gave us the ability to enjoy it, then we need to enjoy it. I figure, we enjoy other things without feeling bad. A good beer, a good cigar, a good meal. So, why should sex be any different.
Masturbation really can help you figure out how your body works. I'm a guy, and like most guys, we know how our body works. Heck, we go through life with this pendulum swinging in our pants as we walk down the street!
Gals are different. So, what you have to do is figure out what feels the best. Do that alone. Or better, do it with someone else. It is more fun. :-) Let that person please you. Tell them what feels best.
Some women take longer than others. I know one gal who can't cum unless she's having regular sex. It's just what makes her feel good. Go figure? But, it works for her.
Just remember. It's your body and your feelings. Don't feel bad about letting those feelings work for you.

South Carolina

Hi, back to both of you.
Petty-to answer your question, Hilton Head is on the coast, and it is nearer Columbia. Columbia is more in the center to lower part of the state. Spartanburg is in the north west part of the state, not far out of north carolina and about 1.5 hours from Georgia.
Yerusalyim - Welcome to SC! And, thanks for the invite. Where you from originally?

Help!! I am extremely confused.
by Leander ini'm at a definite crossroad in my life right now and i don't know which direction to turn.. for my entire life i've been taught to believe in one thing but now i'm seeing things that i never knew where there before.
i find it very disturbing that there has been so many predictions the wts has made in the past that failed to come true.
also the bouncing back and forth on certain doctrines make me question my beliefs.. but on the other hand i can't ignore things like the fact the organization is growing while other religions are on the decline.

Hi, Leander,
I'm rather new to this board, but it sounds like you are going through the same things I did not too long ago. I'll tell you, I was raised JW. My great-grandparents started at the turn of the 20th century. I was an MS at 24 and an elder at 29--then quit completely at 37. I was in several congregations in more than one state. There is no doubt, the average person in the cong is sincere.
I think my turning point, where I really started to question was at the "Generation" change.
I took about a year to "let my head clear." I stepped foot into a Southern Baptist church at the end of that year. Oh, my, that was scarey. I've been attending there about a year. Oh, there are things I don't agree with there, that's for sure. But, you know what? I find that what they society says about "false religion" is really false in itself. People aren't their just to have their "ears tickled." They are sincere, love Christ, and worship with all their hearts. They use their Bibles! (Believe that one or not! :-) )
My advice. Look at the Bible with a child's eyes. Throw away preconcieved notions. Read it afresh. You may be surprised at how the "truths" aren't quite as true as they once seemed.

Hi,
I'm in Spartanburg SC. I was a JW all my life, till I hit 37--2 years ago. Been to Columbia several times--particularly for conventions. Only been in SC for 5 years.
