dropping books from the roof to place them... michael jackson's 'thiller'.... i laughed my butt off.........
Double Edge,
I guess since you were never a JW you wouldn't get it.
See... this site I posted about is funny for an exJW to read because it reminds us of ourselves...and it makes us laugh because we used to do this stuff...we have been there and so it is funny...so...we are kinda laughing at ourselves....because...it is just like us...or like we used to be...only different....sorta...
Oh never mind....

i just wanted to take a moment and thank every one who posts and those.
who visit in "chat"....because of my situation i have no association..... lonliness is a problem for me....but that void is being filled with.
this site....i can assure you,,,it is a void that really needed filling!!.
Ugg,
You cant imagine how YOU have helped ME today. I was having a real bummer of a day before I read your thank you. It felt so nice to read and was such a surprise! Thank you so very much! ((((((((Ugg))))))))
You know, I have been out of the JWs for 15 years, and I still cant attend any particular church more than two Sundays in a row.
I dont believe anything the Watchtower says. I am a Christian now. But for no logical reason I can think of, I cant become a member of a church! I WANT to be a member of a Church!
But after a week or two at one I like, I always BOLT out the door never to return.
It seems to me like when a woman is raped and then cant stand the touch of ANY man. I feel like the Watchtower raped me spiritually, and now I cant stand ANY church. They took something away from me.
I wonder if I will ever feel whole again.
But I know God understands. I know I worship Him fine just the way I am, wherever I am. : )
And to witchywoman, I loved your gun analogy

allowing their 23 year old child to live at home even though this child makes enough money to support themselves and the parent doesn't need their financial support?.
i ask because my former best friend (who betrayed me to the elders) still lives with her mom.
she moved in a month before she got df'd even though her mom knew she was close to getting df'd.
my two cents:
It seems like you would be hurting her mom, not her.

hey everyone,.
i have never been a jehovah's witness, but i've dated someone who is and i have a few clients who are.. my comment and question is this, i've noticed that witnesses who aren't even active get very defensive when asked a question or a comment is made about the religion.. did any of you find yourself before you left getting this way when people asked you about the religion.. restorebeauty.
I left because I didn't believe in it.
Years later, I flew off the handle because someone said the JWs 'don't believe in Jesus'.I mean I went ballistic defending them!
The person just looked at me and quietly said, "Why are you so upset?"
I continued on my rant and they quietly said again, "But why are you so UPSET?"
I stopped and thought about it. I had no idea why I was flipping out about this subject.
He said he noticed all the JWS he talked to get very upset and excited defending the religion...just like I did.
He wondered why? That gave me somthing to chew on for a while.
My theory is: This is what JWs are TRAINED to do: To defend the JW beliefs at all cost. To never let a question go un-answered. To convince everyone that JWs are right. They really believe they can convince ANYBODY if they will listen .
(If a person does not believe what the JWs say, the JWs often say it is because 'the person wouldn't listen.')
If the person is listening, and still not being convinced, a JW can become very upset, because this is not how it is supposed to work! They should be agreeing with the JW because JWs are RIGHT! right? :)
That training (brainwashing?) can hold over long after a person leaves the JWs, even when they don't believe in them anymore!
Weird, hu?

it has been many years since i was dsfsd, i have written this to my sister in hopes that she could understand some of the reasons that the relationship between my daughter and myself have been strained for so many years.
i thought that by posting this it might help someone else that might be going through some of the same things.. here is my story.hello, as i stated in my other e-mail i will dedicate this entirely to trying to explain my situation with my daughter.
i hope you don`t mind if it gets lengthy.as you probably already know i chose to be a jehovahs witness, and was one for more than 16 years.
Hello witchywoman,
I wanted to tell you how much your post touched me... That was an amazing email, and I am so glad you decided to post it! Thank you for sharing that.
My mother is going through the same thing as you, even disfellowshipped for sort of the same reason as you. But my sister is still cold-hearted in her total shunning of Mom. It has been about 3 years now, I think. They were very, very close before the DF. They did everything together, 'like sisters...'
My mother told me that she, like you, would not accept emotional blackmail. When I read that line in your email, I thought of my mom right away. (Mom, it you read this, I am sending you a mental hug all the way to Texas J )
One time my sister let her little girl visit my mom for part of an afternoon. My mom said it was very nice to see her granddaughter...but she had to not get 'too happy or too close' to the little girl, because she knew she would just be ripped from her life again. The sad part is, she was right. My sister felt 'guilty' for letting her 2 year old daughter visit and make cookies with grandma, and informed Mom it would never happen again, until she came 'back to Jehovah'.
Anyway, my mom doesn't read the board at this point, but I am going to send her a copy of this post and your other one about your letter to your sister. I know it will mean a lot to her to know she is not alone.
And Witchy, you ARE such a brave and strong woman! J (You are too, Mom! I hope you read this!)
Thank you,
-LisaBObeesa :)
I was supposed to post this on the "email to my daughter' thread, but this one is great, too!

well, it seems from the responses to the weekend poll that being a regular meeting attender was not a protection from apostasy!!
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=33757&site=3
strange that the wts should always 'encourage' regular meeting attendance for protection.
I attended every meeting for 18 years, until the day I walked out, never to return.

i just watched monsters, inc. for the first time.
(yeah, i know, it came out ages ago.
i was shocked by the amazing similarities between the monsters inc company in the story and the watchtower!

The monsters in the movie get their power by going to peoples homes and scaring the crap out of them!
The only way the head-honcho monsters can get the worker monsters to keep going to peoples homes and scaring them is by telling them lies!
If a monster finds out the truth, they are banished to the dangerous world of PEOPLE!
Common, now that is just a little too close, am I right? J
