Yes, it is moral and rational.
There is nothing immoral about the Santa thing. Lots of cultures have stories like this for children. These stories serve a cultural purpose in raising Children. That's how I looked at it, anyway.
I told my kids that Santa was real. I told them how much Santa loved the children and wanted them to be good, blah, blah, blah.
Then, when they got older, they confronted me about it...and I told them:
"Yes, Santa is real, but now, by asking these questions, you show that you are old enough to know who he is. You are old enough to know the secret. You already know Santa keeps track of how you are doing, he loves you, he provides you with wonderful things. Now you are older...and you want to know if he is real? He is REAL. But the secret is that 'Santa' is not just one man...'Santa' is all the adults in your life who have been raising you and loving you! Santa is uncle Jim. Santa is your dad. Santa is me. Santa is the neighbor lady, Mrs. Jones. We are the ones who have been loving you and keeping track of how you have been doing and we are the ones who put the gifts under the tree. WE are Santa. And now, because you have shown you are old enough, YOU ARE SANTA, TOO! Now YOU are helping to raise the little ones, keep an eye on how they are doing as they grow, and you will secretly get them gifts at Christmas! Because now you are Santa, too! It is a serious responsibility, all this helping to raise little ones to be good, setting an example, and carrying on the Christmas traditions, but it is also so fun! Congratulations!"
It was awesome. And it was the truth.

Go to The Cliff House..but not to eat...just check out the views and history...maybe have a drink at the bar.
Walk the path over by the Sutro Baths (next to the Cliff House), around Land's End, to the view of the GG Bridge...not sure the name of the path, but easy to find...
Eat dinner at The Blue Plate.
Eat ice cream at Bi-Rite Creamery. (seriously. OMG.)

Sugar: The Bitter Truth (YouTube)
by leavingwt inthis is an interesting presentation.
robert h. lustig, md, ucsf professor of pediatrics in the division of endocrinology, explores the damage caused by sugary foods.
he argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin.. .

I can't watch the whole video right now, but I will later today.
I gave up all refined sugar and all white flour (white flour is turned into sugar by the body almost instantly) about 2 months ago. Now I ONLY eat 100% whole wheat.) I also don't eat artifical sweeteners. Either I'm eating something naturally sweet, or I'm not eating something sweet. And I eat pleanty of things that are naturally sweet.
My only exceptions are some dark chocolate, only after dinner (dark chocolate is good for you, and ..I love it).
I eat as much as I want following these rules. I feel soooooo much better! No more afternoon crash!
And I lost 15 pounds without even trying! I eat lots of food! Maybe twice as much as I ate before. I have not even started to exercise yet.
I will NEVER go back to foods with refined sugar in them again. I found that before, refined sugar was in everything i was eating...it was in my wheat bread, in the spagetti sauce, in the lunch meat, in the 'healthy' cereal,....I really had to hunt to find versions of my favorite foods with no refinedsugar (and no FAKE sugars) in them. But I found them.
Now, I am an absolute true believer in cutting out refined sugar and white flour. I want to tell everybody! People don't really want to hear it, though...

by bnybyt inthe wt study edition is getting a facelift for the new year.. the january issue had been posted on jw.org but.... the boes hadn't received notice by letter of such a change.. the wts likes to play up every opportunity to have a new release.. this time the jw.org techies jumped the gun and went on to post.

realized the cat was out of the bag, sort of saying.. well, it got pulled off the website, for now at least.. what's so secretive about it?.

The ONLY good thing I got out of being raised a JW was exposure to lots of good vocabulary and the reasonably complicated sentence struture of writing that was for adults.
Now they toss that out the window, too.

If your religion spawns lots of websites for fomer members who call leaving your religion 'escaping,'....you might be in a cult. If former members need support to adjust to life outside your religion,....you might be in a cult.

"Wouldn't elimination of all (honestly, I don't believe in absolutes) viruses render our immune systems vulnerable to them if they come alive, again?"
Exactly what I was thinking. I think I'd like to keep my strong immune system...
