I don't think you could get one at the hall unless you are a JW. Try Ebay, or maybe a friend here can help.

What is "Right?"
by Farkel ini responded to your comments on another post, but i feel this issue is just too important and deserves its own thread.. -----------------------------------------------------.
: even the most righteous believer of god would tend to quote abraham: is the judge of all the earth not going to do what is right?
(gen 18:25).

Farkel,
I read your first post on this thread, but not most of the others. I would like to take a stab at it.
After reading your post, I got out my Bible and read Gen 18. I just did not seem to read what you read somehow. This is how I saw it:
God says 'I'm going to destroy S&G because they are full of bad people."
Abraham says,'But God, it's not fair to destroy the good people, too.'
God says, 'I won't destroy the good people.'
Abraham goes out to find the good people and can't find any.God never changed what He was saying was right or wrong. But Abraham it seems was implying that God was wrong about there being no rightous people in S&G. Abraham turned out to be wrong, not God.
While Abraham did seem to be appealing to a right and wrong 'outside of' God, there is nothing here saying that there IS such a thing. In fact, I think the story reinforces the idea that God IS 'right.'
What do ya think?

homophobia is a mis-nomer
by sawthelight insince phobia means "afraid of", i think the term homophobia should be clarified.
to most people i would be considered homophobic, howeve, i'm not afraid of homos, i just don't like them.

Hello, people, welcome to 2001! :)
We don't say 'homophobic' anymore, we say 'heterosexist'.
You know, just like 'racist' only different...Sawthelight, while you may not be homophobic, you are heterosexist.

advice needed--please respond
by lisaBObeesa inthis is a question my df mother would like me to post for her:.
would it be morally right to go back to the jws, even though she doesn't feel it is god's org?
she would do this in order to speak with her life long friends and her youngest daughter, all of whom are quite emotionally distraught due to her dfing.

Danny you said:
"Friday for the love of peace, empathy, or just plain good manner's, if you want to continue this...start your own thread. This one is a personal request by Lisa for help, in a trying time. Even if you don't see it that way...please show some regard to this situation"
Thank you Danny.
When my mom checks this thread again tomorrow, I hope she finds support and not a big flame-war. -

To EVERYONE,
Thanks so much for the replies! Please keep posting them. My mom says she never realized there was so much support out there! This means alot to her.
To Somebody:
Yes, her daughter will not speak to her. In fact, my mom is not allowed to see her two small grandchildren. This is all because my mom is DF, and my sister says she must 'put Jehovah first.' They were very close before the DFing. As for my mother's friends, these are very, very old friends. More like family than friends. She has known her best friend since first grade. ( myself consider my mom's friend and her husband as my second mom and dad, because I grew up seeing them almost every day.) This is a 40+ year friendship.
Again, thanks for the posts,

Jayhawlk,
My mom says, "Couldn't I get reinstated and NOT go out in service?" She is thinking to go back for only a short time and then move out of town and become an innactive witness.
Do you think this could work?

She would basically have to lie and she isn't sure she should. Still she is torn because she wants to put her friend's minds at ease and to be able to talk to them.
My mom doesn't post here, but she will be reading your responses...please be kind, as she is worried and upset, and fairly newly DF.
Thanks,
