The shunning begins

check out my mother in laws new thinking...already the jws have firmly replaced her ability to think for herself:.

"dear d"i just got your note today, since i was out of commission for a week or more.i wasn't "waiting to tell you," nor was i going to" jump back into shunning d." i just didn't think this was going to be happy news, and judging from your choice of words in this note, i was right!

i have been going to meetings for a couple of months and have expressed a desire to be reinstated.

I think at firstI was reading this letter like you are. (Except for the 'tell the kids I love Jehovah and want to serve him' crap. I'll get to that in a second.)

LovesDubs made another post called "Dear Mommy Dearest". When I read that, I saw this letter in a whole new way. You might want to check it out.

As for the 'tell the kids I love Jehovah and want to serve Him.' If you don't know what is wrong with this guilt trip, stop for a second and imagine saying this to YOUR children about their grandparent. Telling them this infers that you, the parent DOESN'T love God (or else you would be like grandma...)

Anyway... hope that helps..

Confusion!!!

Welcome Santa Cruz Chick,

we have some things in common:

1) I was raised in this religion

2) I am going to Santa Cruz today!!

I still feel that what I'm doing is wrong, that Jehovah is upset with me. Its extremely difficult to live your entire life according to Jehovah's standards, no birthdays, holidays, pagan influences, etc...;

I would say that some research would put your mind to rest. Research some (but not in JW books!) and see if GOD SAYS you can't have birthdays. See if GOD SAYS you can't have holidays. Heck, you could even just see if THE BIBLE says any of these things.

In my research I found out that what I had been taught were 'Jehovah's standards' were NOT Jehovah's standards at all. Someone came up with those standards alright, but it wasn't Jehovah!

I now follow Jehovah's standards. I don't follow the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's standards.

I edited this again after reading you other post on the other thread. WOW. All I can say is how sorry I am and that this sucks.

I'm sorry if the kids are confused. Tell them Grandma loves Jehovah and wants to serve him again. Tell them I think I made a lot of mistakes, and that I want to correct them. Tell them I love them, please.

I totally don't get this part. Why doesn't she tell them herself if she is not shunning??? And what kind of a mind trip is that to put on the kids?

Shame On All of You

all week long, much has been done here that could rip silentlambs apart.

pat garza has faced ridicule and scorn, bill bowen is now also being drug about by his short hairs over his letters by all you arm chair attorney's who haven't contributed an iota of what he has or placed yourselves anywhere near harm's way as he has.

all i can say is i'm damned ashamed of all of you and i'm through with this shit!!!!!.

One thing people ARE doing is speaking their minds about what they think.

Yes, I have.

1 people think the letter sounds too angry

2 people think the letter will be used in court to hurt Bills credibility.

3 people think it is pointless

4 people think the GB will not take the letter seriously

5 people think it makes no sense because Bill is DF so he cant really call a JC against anyone, let alone the GB according to the rules.

6 people think Bill is rushing ahead without considering all facets

Not all of them, but some of them for sure. Some have SAID they will no longer support him. And some people seem to be trying to convince others to not support Bill. And that is ok. People dont HAVE to support him if they think how he is doing this is wrong.

I just wanted to say that I am giving Bill the benefit of the doubt here because so far he has done a fine job.

Some people dont think Bill has done a fine job because he squealed his tires, or threw a stuffed lamb. Some people actually think Bill expects these letters to be taken seriously by GB members. Actually, it seems like a LOT of people think this. I just wanted to add my thoughts, that are a bit different.

LOL. You have a flare for understatement! If that was all that was said, I wouldnt have felt the burning need to share with the board on three different threads that I am giving Bill the benefit of the doubt and that I still support his efforts. I mean, I can even agree with your above statement. Especially the MAY part. However, this nice-and-pretty-wrapped-with-a-bow and oh-so-reasonable statement was NOT what I was reading on the threads that prompted me to share my feelings of support for Bill.

As the number of thread critical of Bills letter grow and the views and posts to them go through the roof, I wanted to say that I dont agree with the majority(?) here on this one. Should I have just kept quiet, or what?
