  Hi from Andy from state of Montana, introduce myself

  hi wanted to introduce myself, i wanted to intoduce myself once all the dust cleared more and i am thinking more clearly, in feb. 2011 is when i decided to leave jw, my way out of the organization has actually been since july of 2010 gradually over time i started to question the jw religion, in july of 2010 i was still living at home with my parents, my dad at the time told me he was going to force me to go to meetings but i started to drift out the other way it got to the point where my dad told me i had to eventually leave, in november of 2010 alot of things happened, i was finally able to find my own place, just at the right time i found a very good deal on a duplex for $350 a month something that i can easily afford even on low income, usually alot of places even where i live are around $600 a month, in alot of ways i just about nearly was homeless.. in feb. of 2011 is when i decided to read the book crisis of conscience, the very first night getting through 80 pages is when my blindfolds came off, i immediatley accepted christ as my savior, also in the process i did alot of extensive research, i did research on alot of mainstream religons, also jwfacts.com helped me out alot on where to go, i decided to check out the baptist church, everything was beyond what i expected, i am not afraid to walk into a different church to me its helping me heal all the pain that the jw religon has caused, also recently i got baptized and now am a born again christian.. .

  this is a question that i have struggled with, not just as a jehovahs witness but as a believer in god.

  If I were to simply stand by and watch my daughter get savagely beaten, when I could easily stop the attack, how am I not responsible?

  In my worldview, God doesn't exist. Therefore, he's not responsible for anything.

  Simply put, $hit happens. We're all going to die, and we're the lucky ones. Most people are never born.

  Or, we can blame invisible people and look to magical answers for comfort.

  Leaving WT I agree. Unicorns aren't responsible for happiness, trolls aren't responsible for bad things happening. God is responsible for neither.

  Okay, so Dawkins thinks aliens making us is JUST as likely, and if not, MORE likely than God making us. Well all I have to say to that is "DUH!" If God doesn't exist, he doesn't do much creating, then, does he? What is so complicated about this?

  I'm thinking he doesn't exactly reject the idea that god created life on earth any more than he rejects the idea that aliens created us. He says its possilbe, but very unlikely that god made us, but more likely that aliens did it. It makes sense if you don't believe in god, trust me. I know.

  Oh, please...

  Dawkins said "you might find some sort of signature of design." First of all, he said "might." In the beginning, he said the notion that God created the universe and life is a possibility anyway, this statement only repeats that thought. Furthermore, design implies a designer, sure, but this designer need not necessarily be God, or any INTELLIGENT designer. We could just say the universe was DESIGNED by nature. So, I don't see your point. But, I do find debate very interesting, SlimBoyFat, so if you'd like to clarify the point you are trying to make with this video, perhaps I could give a more useful comment.

  I liked that. I get something new out of all this crazy stuff every day. The moral emotional response relates to how the WT god is supposed to fix all these things. It also portrays the idea that the world is very dark, in need of an end and the beginning of a "perfect" one. The pictures are VERY emotional. Bait and hook. Then reel them in with the concept that the WT has all the answers because its god will right all these wrongs. And throw in some exclamation points to boot!

  I believe my list reflects that of a typical secular humanist:

  1. Peace and Love, understanding and a lack of bigotry and blind hatred.

  2. Critical thinking skills, like you said, logic study, a well-rounded ecucation for kids--and adults, really (world theologies as well as secular worldviews), how to question things and still retain an open mind. Knowledge is never harmful.

  3. Better distribution of food and clean water to impoverished people, then focus on medical needs. Good health to all, and good will to all sentient beings as well as to the rest of animals and nature.

  sorry for the redundancy of this being the 3rd article out of this magazine i've made a thread on- but i felt it was important to share these quotes from the aricle titled " make your way successful - how ?

  " i think you'll see the extreme dissing of higher education here and guilt tactics used to discourage jw members from getting a college education or earning a decent living.. under the subheading " higher education " ?

  it states, " a christian has a scriptural obligation to care for his family, and that includes providing for their material needs.

  Hey, I don't blame you, Mr. Flipper. This was one of the craziest issues in a long time!

  I think it's awful weird how they bash getting a good job and education because of the fact that people who have these things don't need to work as hard as people on lower incomes. Think about it, why would anyone think about working a very busy job, day and night, constantly on their toes? It's usually people who are POOR who have to work their butts off just to survive. It's really astounding with all the "examples" of people in the magazines who were dirt poor and then sacrificed the only job they had (which sucked anyway), took risks by missing work to go to conventions, sold their livestock, homes, assets, all kinds of sh*t, and gave all the money to the WT! Hey, maybe the reason people work so many hours is because they simply do not get paid as much by the hour as people with better jobs. Simple. I find it hard to believe that a computer programmer would have to work that often, especially when most work at home anyway, and the average salary is $80,000-$90,000. You don't have to work as many hours if you have a good paying job IN THE FIRST PLACE.
