There was this one time when this guy was frustrated, and I said "welcome to MY world." And then this sister looks at me funny, like I STUMBLED her or something, and she says "This is SATAN'S world!" Even when I believed, I still thought that was hilariously fanatical.

What was your most embarassing WTF experience with a fanatical witness??
by Reality79 inwe've all known those fanatical witnesses who are guilty of pdf (public display of faith) and always have to make a big song and dance to the whole world and let everyone and their dog know they're a faithful witness of jay hoover!.
1) when my mother first came in 'da troooof' this wacky, over zealous 'sister' was studying with her - you know the type.
this woman was one of those not so subtle individuals who would always talk loud in conversation and say the name jehovah a million times even when the conversation could have been about basketball.

Isn't anyone going to attempt to explain irreducible complexity? One "simple" single-cell has multi-billions of parts. How'd they all get there at the same time? I've gone toe to toe with numerous folks here over the years on different subjects. It is only fair to ask opponents on this issue to defend their stand. I'm all ears.
First of all, I have to say IC is one of the better arguments against evolution. But notice how I didn't say it was evidence for creationism? That's because problems with evolution (where they exist) are NOT evidence for creationism. They are simply problems for evolution, just like problems with literalist creationism aren't necessarily proof of evolution. Let's play a logic game:
Someone's gonna surprise me with an ice cream cone. I think he's gonna get me vanilla (evolution), based on the evidence for it. He knows I like vanilla and it's pretty damn likely that they're serving vanilla today. You say "chocolate" because you assume everyone loves chocolate (everyone knows the Bible's the only source for truth, right?). You also heard from a guy who claims to know another guy who says chocolate ice cream is the only true way to satisfy hunger (salvation, or something). He says some sciency-sounding stuff to "back it up." Now, someone informs me that there's no more vanilla, so I know the vanilla theory is not true. But I'm not going to assume that I'm getting chocolate. You are NOT automatically right because I am wrong. I could be getting strawberry (aliens created us), cookies and creme (Zeus created us), spumoni (day-age Islamic creationism) or pistachio (any alternative scientific theory). Origin/creation/evolution theories are like those flavors of ice cream. The universe has many possible arguments to offer besides creation and evolution and flavors of ice cream beside vanilla and chocolate.
Okay, back to IC systems. Those things might not even exist, Perry. Single-celled organisms are "simple" in relative terms. You know, compared to organisms made of billions of cells. And what do you mean mult-billion parts? Are you talking about the number of molecules or something? 'Cause they don't have that many organelles. And all those things do not appear all at once. That is the #1 major misconception people make when refuting evolution. No scientists believe that such a thing just popped out of nowhere. And, just so you know, Richard Dawkins doesn't expect a chimpanzee to give birth to a human baby any day now. Darwin didn't believe that back then, and no one believes that now.

Is this not an easy question?
by the pharmer ini wanted my jw friend's perspective on something, so i asked them this question:.
if i read a passage of scripture and conclude about it something that opposes the wt's view of the same passage, in your mind who has the truth about that passage (i.e.
who is correct)?

Pika-chu--- that isnt the point-the point is you can ask the holy spirit a thousand times what those beast are and you would never come up with the answer-- Jesus appointed the fds to give spiritual food at the proper time-
But where does the "faithful slave" get it's information from? It's the Holy spirit isn't it? So if I ask the holy spirit a question, I should get a correct answer. What kind of God wants people to know the truth so bad and then makes it so difficult to interpret that only a few men can? What kind of God plays these games with us? If I want someone to be my friend, I don't get all secretive and require interpreters. What would be the point of God leaving us with "His word" if we can't understand it in plain terms? If your God wants people to understand him and be his friend, he should find more efficient (and intelligent) means of communicating with humanity than whispering into the ears of the GB members. Oh wait, he doens't even give THAT much disclosure...
And he also called them his brothers and said of these-- persay--whatever you do to the least of these my brothers-you do to me-- So in reality if the JW leaders are in fact the faithful slave--
The key word here is "if," sir. You can't just make judgements based on assumptions.
all you who condemn them actually condemn Jesus- or call them liars you call Jesus a liar he said to that effect. Its just like in Jesus day-the false religious teachers called his religion a sect ( cult ) because they didnt learn in the school of men, the holy spirit teaches the fds.\
Where in the Bible does it say the leaders called his religion a cult? And where does it say the fds is guided by holy spirit? And why assume the slave parable is even a prophecy? What leads you to such a conclusion? Especially seeing as how Jesus wasn't talking in the future tense, and there was no mention that this was a sign? Please cite your scriptures.

How far are you on your journey away from the JW Org?
by punkofnice ini mentally left the org in march 2010. i stepped down as an elder after my lad got into trouble.
i researched the publications to make myself 'spiritually strong' but it backfired.. i was in mental and emotional turmoil, still on fs, the platform and meetings etc.
i had to force myself to conform to ever failing jw doctrine.. i announced to my family that i was not going back to meetings in august 2010 after the 'overlapping' joke of 'new light'.. i told the elders not to call.

Mr. Falcon Asks......What's so bad about boxing?
by Mr. Falcon ini love boxing.
it kicks arse all over the place.
although it has lost some of it's prior glory and has waaaay too many classes that are televised and billed as "main events", it's still better than mma (sorry to any mma fans; i actually don't mind ufc, i'm just saying that i prefer traditional boxing).. anywho, what is the deal with jws hating on boxing?

What's bad about boxing? It's too much fun, so you're not allowed to watch it. Fun is wrong.

The Pharmer-- The JW leaders would be right. I know you will say the holy spirit will teach you- so i ask you a question-please give me your answer from the holy spirit-- What is a 7 headed beast with 10 horns? Or a simpler one who is the two horned beast?
Why would the leaders be right? Wouldn't you rather take GOD's word for it? The Beasts described here apparently mean whatever the hell the GB says they are. Do you know that other Christian denominations interpret things mentioned in Daniel and Revelation the same way? Does that mean THEY have holy spirit?

Jesus taught-love,peace,unity,return evil for evil to no one, vengeance is mine said the lord.Love your enemy.
Which is why your God of love wants to kill 6 Billion people just to prove a point. Approximately 500,000 babies are born each day. Of course, not all of those babies' parents are baptized jw in good standing. If Armageddon happened tomorrow, how many babies would he have to kill to save seven million people from "bad influence?"
