There's no 156th Psalm either.
I'd normally see the funny side, but I guess the blood issue is a little too tender for me to appreciate it.

New blood policy
by rhett ini just got the newest copy of the watchtower and in it there's new light!
as it turns out they have a new understanding of the scripture at psamls 156;23 and because of it accepting blood transfusions is now a matter of conscience.
their reasoning behind it is that apparently it was revealed to the gb that to keep numbers up it would be best to allow this matter to be a conscience decision because too many of the current members were dying off because of this and they want to keep their numbers up.

Ok, so it's a busy (self-impossed) lifestyle.
Let's be honest, very few bust a gut.
Most work steady, at a pace they are happy with.
The emphasis was always on doing a job well, rather than getting a lot done.
It's an institution alright! -

On the contrary, Avengers, you may need to be a little more patient.
I was exchanging emails with a guy in the Netherlands, who didn't have English as a first language. For the most part he was pretty good, but would occasionally spell things phonetically. Seven years later, he's doing great.
Have a heart, eh? I imagine that you wouldn't do too well writing in Swedish (speaking for myself, I know that I wouldn't). -

I went to three services today.
Since it's in the Reformed tradition, they don't specifically hold Easter, but rather are in the midst of a very long communion season, which they hold twice a year. I've been to four communion services, over the last six weeks, and will attend another two, in the next two weeks (D.V.).Hey, I heard my first sermon on Hell, in the evening service. That made a change! We also had some Mormons attend <vbg>.
I also managed to fit in contributing to this board, several lengthy emails, and watched the Grand Prix.

I heard that all flags were at half mast, except Buckingham Palace. The queen is in residence.
I can't see them breaking with that protocol again, even if they did do it for Diana. She was hanging her tongue out to make the Golden Jubille, this year.
Didn't miss it by much. -

The gauntlet down, a dual proposed,
A verbal dance around the henge.
A single minded chase, perchance
Who could ignore the challenge?Too much to do, too much to see,
This life is very droll.
Since many are ex Witnesses,
J-dub, or sad, or troll. So days move on, merge into weeks,
And what shall keep us sane?
A chance to vent, to learn, or fluff,
To live with the mundane. -

Because they don't know the scriptures and make things up as they go along.
They now appear to be waiting for his third coming. -

Waking up to the fact that all my previous life had been false, was the greatest similarity.
The new life is grittier, but the freedom is worth it.Of course, you could throw in the use of the Internet, to gain access to that information, for many.

I should add that it can be done anytime, anyday.
The only real reason for doing it tonight is that our nearest and dearest remind us that the JW's are doing it tonight.
That kinda makes it special for no other reason than you remember the date and can get LOTS of people doing it together. The bread SHOULD be unleavened, so cheese biscuits (wafers) can do, if they have no raising agents.
The wine SHOULD be red, like blood.Of course if you are just doing it for fun, and aren't worried about the actual symbology of the emblems themselves, by all means crack open a beer and get a pizza in.
The emblems have no saving value of themselves. It's all about remembering him until he returns (which wasn't in 1914, or else we would have stopped by now!).
