  Sifted As Wheat???

  i was just pondering the scripture, but i'm not sure if it's satan who's demanded the 'faithful' to be sifted as wheat.

  i can't remember where the scripture is either.

  my question is: why did jehovah give in to his demands?

  Of course there is a view of the bible that states that God wanted Satan to show his true colours, which is why he created man in the first place. Satan, being a sneaky little devil who went around backbiting all the time, needed ousting. See, he hadn't actually done anything to be ousted for, at that time. Ergo, the fall of Adam, the encounter with Job, and the continual dealings with mankind

  this morning as i was trimming my beard, i was thinking about when i was a drone and the times that iws counseled about my 5:00 shadow at the meetings, and i rembered a time when my dad was told to go and trim his sideburns b 4 he could go on stage at an assembly.. at one time it promted a friend of mine and i to write a letter to the society, since they could change thier minds on doctrinal issues as the light gets brighter we thought maybe we could get them to change thier minds on this issue, (yeah right).

  a few months later he recived a letter from the society the essence of it was like this : it would not be inapproiate for a brother to wear a nice trim beard but the elders in the local area would have to detirmin if it would be acceptable for the brother to be used in the cong.

  and go door to door, as some areas might be more open to it than others.

  Just goes to show how the link has been made between beards and anything worldy / apostate.

  IMHO, it was exacerbated if you were home-schooled. I know a few that fell into that category. It left them socially retarded even by JW standards. Of course, not all remain the subject of their environment.

  As for men and their feelings, I've always been an open book. Darn - I can't even be standard in that department!!!

  I always thought SYN was a guy. I thought it quite funny when his gender started getting discussed. I thought it even funnier when he fanned the flames of indecision.

  I'm sorry to hear that Reborn feels agrieved by it, but that's the joys of an anonymous board - occasionally we all get burnt.

  Ok, lying is NOT appreciated, but for goodness sakes - it's between Reborn and SYN, and noone else. Only the two of them are privvy to the facts of what was and wasn't said over the last couple of months.

  Several paragraphs had to be struck out due to "new light" on signs in the heavens, etc.

  Sure, he gets an honourable mention, in that publication, but it contains far more than just his life. It contains a pile of speculation and dodgy theology, too.

  Leaven is what leaven does...

  Arguably one of the best books was actually the "Commentary on James", the heritage of which is a story in its own right.
