Scriptural Basis of not believing in Hell
by Tirisilex ini am not a jehovah witness however i'm ver interested in jw doctrine.
i consider myself somewhat of a scholar.. i first attempted to get my questions answered by having jw's come to my home.
however, i was most disappointed because they were too busy trying to recruit me than trying to answer my questions.

was Jesus a woman?
by spinner inparousia: translated in the new world translation as the "presence" of jesus.
zodhiates greek wordstudy dictionary states: .
#3844-- para: alongside, nearby, expressing the notion of immediate vicinity .

Here lies the danger of merely parsing Greek words, with no concern for their contemporary context.
Paul uses the same word, of himself, in Phil.2:12. By the same token, should we take it that Paul was also a woman?
Sirona's comment, about gender, appears right on the nail.

The doctrine of election is one of the greatest of mysteries, and also the most controversial.
I suspect, at the end of the day, that most "born-again" believers would agree that Christian berethren are going to end up together, regardless of their doctrinal persuasion. Whether the belief is Arminian or Calvinist, it's in grace that we stand.
For the most part I would concur with much of what Calvin stated, but I hope that that would never make me so dogmatic and blinkered as to believe that only those who have the same understanding as me will have a "good end".
On the point of salvation, I suspect that simplistic statements such as "believing" or "repentance" saving, are moot. They are all part of the process. The hardest part is understanding the terminology, since we had been supplied an alternate meaning to most biblical words, by the JW's (e.g. Conversion).

Hi Guys,
Sorry about the silence - I don't think I've posted for about 3 months.
Qwerty emailed me to let me know my absence had been duly noted.
Things have been haywire on pretty much every level of my life, recently, so I guess it's time to cut some time to post some of the gory details. I'll drop it into "Personal Experiences".
Thanks for the Birthday greetings - another year young!

I found this point interesting:
He is giving me a place in connection with his organization...
So receiving the Holy Spirit is synonymous with being a JW? I wonder if they told Paul - poor guy just thought he was a Christian.

Sorry, run that by me again...
Which leg is wrapped in ice, and which leg is elevated?Sorry to hear about that, Mike. I sprained an ankle about three years ago, and it gave me pain for over a year. It's pretty excruciating, if you do it right.
I know you'll want to get up and at it, as soon as poss, but rest is the best thing.

it was a good experience but the weather in the lake district was awful and i got soaked from then on until i hit john o' groats- then, the clouds skudded away and the whole area was bathed in the brightest light i've ever seen-i could have happily stayed there and never gone back!.

To DA or not to DA...
by jws injust read the posts about dissassociating.
wondering what the advantages/disadvantages are.. i myself had my meeting attendance drop about 1989. during this time, i found the truth about jws through books like those of raymond franz and never went back.
aside from my father trying to coax me back in, no other jw (elder or otherwise) has ever brought up the subject or hunted me down to make a decision.

I DA'ed publically, because I knew that my actions were going to cause me to be DA'ed by them, and I wanted to say fairwell and express my love (even if they subsequently wouldn't believe it).
