after much deliberation, i decided to go "out" at the end of a public talk.

it didn't go down too well, but at least i was able to give some of my reasons for leaving.. i've put some of the details on my homepage.

i'll update it more when i get the time and the strength.

I took a minute or two to double check some of your previous postings, and can't make my mind up if you're a troll or not.
I wonder why you didn't just ask a few questions, instead of openly deriding people as guillible.

The King James Version was in frequent use in the ministry, as the local population don't trust the NWT. I would regularly use both.
I don't recall why it was on the sideboard that day.

As for my congregation, you can probably make it out from the tape. Meanwhile I'm trying to retain a little anonymity, since this is a VERY public forum.

As for the letter, I'm a belts and braces man. I wanted to reduce the number of after-calls I received from the elders (which still amounted to about five hours plus phone calls).

As for the beard - believe what you will - they were hardly going to send me home to shave, or replace the speaker, with just five minutes notice.

As for the announcement, I wanted to make sure I hadn't left anything out (more belts and braces). I wrote out that bit so that I wouldn't forget anything.

So, Jack, what's your real problem?

I finally got a sound file uploaded, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired. When I get better line quality I'll upload the MP3.
I had to drop the quality to drop the size.
It's about 8Mb at the moment.

I would blame my parents, but they had the same upbringing.

It's been a long day at work, and I leave for home, soon.
I'll see if I can get back, and maybe into "Chat", later.
Just to answer a couple of questions:

I left out the "Then:" paragraph. When the time came it didn't "feel" right. The letter covered the UN thing briefly, and I left wads of information on the lecturn, regarding it.
It'll be easier just to listen to the sound file, when I get the blinkin' thing posted!
I cut it down to a 20 minute Public Talk because I wanted to keep 'em awake.

I couldn't tell anyone, except a couple of ex-JW friends who were praying for me.
My wife and family would have grassed on me, and that would have been that (they admitted as much).
I have no children, thanks to borg encouragement and reaching out for Circuit work.

I started growing the beard after the Elders school. By the time of the talk it was just two weeks old, so I was kinda surprised they let me on the platform.
One of the kids apparently asked if I'd grown the beard because I was leaving - LOL.
The picture is from last weekend (week five), when I travelled to England to visit some of the new friends.
My wife hates it, so it's days are numbered, as I may make that small compromise.

Man - I only just put that Profile page up, this morning, and already it's got over a hundred hits!

I gave the talk a couple of weeks ago, but things have been kinda traumatic since, so time has flown.
I'm having difficulty uploading the zipped sound file, today, but will get it sorted ASAP.

Two night's before I was in distress. I prayed as did Jesus in Gethsemane "let this cup pass me by...yet not my will...". I did all but sweat blood, but received peace from this.

I wasn't interrupted.
I had prayed the night before, and during the morning, that that might be the case. I also had a few others specifically praying that this might be the case.
The P.O. was Chairman for the morning, and you can imagine my distress when he sat on the front row (not six feet away from me), rather than his usual spot.
I gave a quick Nehemiah-like prayer, when I saw that.

I had the audience in rapt attention - you could have heard a pin drop.
Everyone was following along, giving full attention. It was almost as if they knew something differant was going on.

When I gave a little of my testimony the P.O. looked up in surprize. I then did something strange, in that I dropped the JW bashing part of the outline and gave a few minutes on Matt.11:28-30 and John 16:4 ("I am the way the truth and the life").
The P.O. just looked at his feet!
At this point the other Elders were looking at me, and him, back and forth, caught in the throes of indecision. He remained seated.
I made my DA announcement, as in the outline, then made to leave.

At this point he sprang to his feet and joined me on the platform.
I caught the eye of one of the children, however, and made my way back to the lecturn.
He just stood there!
I made a few comments to the kids, got off the platform, and plucked the tape from the tape-recorder, on the way to the door.

At no point was I touched, hindered or interfered with.
Shocked disbelief, or Power of prayer - I believe the latter - either way, I wasn't interrupted.

so i finally went and did it.. i exited the borg with a flurry of activity.. i've posted some of the details on my homepage, including a few documents.

there's a sound file to go up, yet.

as i get time and strength i'll post some more of the details.. the gristly bit is that i did it at the end of a public talk i was giving.. it was an emotional farewell, but had to be done.. now i'm just starting to enjoy each day as it comes, with the new liberties that it affords.. edited to add link to main board:.

I finally got COC and ISOCF, last week.
I'm half way through COC, having finished the Malawi/Mexican issue.

I wouldn't read them whilst still in, as I wanted to be able to deny it. Now that I'm "out" I'm enjoying the freedom.

Part 4: The Last KM School

the average jw elder participates in extra exclusive activities over and above the rank & file jw: among them are the judicial committees, private meetings with the circuit and district overseer on various official occasions, possession of the secretive flock book, and kingdom ministry school.. of all these, the least frequently experienced is km school.

it is not all that exciting, because much of what is covered is admonition about what most jws already know that elders are supposed to be doing: examples in field service, regular shepherding calls, meeting preparation and attendance, study with the family, etc.

I'm so with you on this one.
I can't think of anything that has really been secret in any of these Elder's and MS schools. The same with the Pioneer school. I think it's a bluff to massage the ego and encourage others to "reach out". Perhaps the GB don't think that the girls need that kind of ego massage, hence they ignore them completely.
