Could people be resurrected?
by sleepy ini want to look at the possiblity of whether people, at least in theory, could be resurrected.
when i was a witness i could see a major problem with the concept of a resurrection,as understood by the society.trouble is i found it hard to explain to people, and only others who had thought of it themselves seemed to understand.
basicly if a person dies, and you resurrect that person by copying all his parts exactly is that the same person coming back to life or, a new person with the same memories and feelings?well to me its only the same person if they have continuity of existance.

So where was Enoch translated to, that he might not see death?
As for casting doubt on resurrection, it seemed to me that the main doubt was cast on the JW interpretation of it. Of course I could be reading it wrong.
On the scriptural side, I find Heb.4:12 and 1Thes.5:23 interesting, because they are not easily explained by JW doctrine.

DLB pointed this thread out to me, because I missed it - sorry Matty.
My email is open, anytime you want to correspond with another birthed-in Brit guy.
For the last two months, before DA'ing I started making friends outwith the borg. It really helped a lot. I was climbing the walls, before I left, too.
I also look back at some nightclasses I did some years ago. The folks there thought it was strange that I didn't go out for a beer with them. I recommend that as a good starting point, as people don't just do them for a hobby, but also as a way of meeting people (in other words, it's not just exJW's who are looking for new friends).
You're a nice guy. You'll make friends easily - astound them with your party piece of speaking crap in six languages

Should JESUS be worshipped or prayed to?
by LittleToe ini want to consider this point, free from the trinity / arian debate.
there have been an abundance of threads that have deteriorated into these doctrine, and it clouds this issue because tempers get raised.. so, please, can we keep it simple.
should jesus receive our worship, right here, right now?.

Or, is prayer a form of worship? Personally, I think so. -

Seems this is a philosophical discussion, not a biblical debate, Joseph.
What do you make of the term "translated"?

So when you've done the unforgivable and left the borg, your wife keeps "rendering her due" but affection is in short supply, where do you go from there?
Having had both, I prefer affection too. Life without it is like a living death.

So, both Hebrews and Revelation show him being worshiped and prayed to. There are other verses that show him being worhipped while on earth whereas Peter, and the angel in Revelation, refuse worship. Is the definition of the word "worship" an issue here?
A verse that had personal impact on me was John 20:28; Thomas said to him: "My Lord and my God!" (NWT).
Plm:
I find myself praying to either, too, depending on the circumstance. What determines who you pray to? And on what authority do you do this? -

The terminology is often the sticking point.
Enoch was translated, too.

Of course the immortal soul doctrine covers that eventuality, Sleepy. When your body dies an invisible part of you, that perhaps never registered in this plane of existance, but was somehow inexplicably linked to that physical body, continues to live on.
For that soul to be incorporated in a new Spiritual body, or another physical body, would just be a change of transport.
It seems that the philosophy behind this one has been previously considered, albeit for a different age, with different terminology.

LOL @ Naeblis - once again you've brought a smile to my face
Valid point, in a trinitarian context, but I want to sidestepp that particular debate, in this threadSleepy, also a valid question, but not what I was asking. Do you want it adding to the melting pot as a third part to the thread?
