Eeek!!!
Darn - caught in the act - it was my wife on the phone!!!
i have been offfline for awhile, and i must say i am quite upset, not really upset, just unsettled about what i have seen when i have returned.
have all of you lost your ever loving minds?
wtf?.
It seems that the most voluble detractors of this site were those that cried for "absolute" free speech. Well, now they have a place to go, and buddies that share that ideal.
I, personally, wish them the best and hope they will continue to swing by here occasionally, too. As Wendy stated, "this world is so HUGE". There's more than enough room for several sites, which should share the workload helping those who are finally thinking, and supporting those who have left.
I don't have a bad word to say for anyone. I just hope that everyone finds the niche that they feel most comfortable in, and preferably without slagging off others for prefering a different niche. It is that attitude, of bigotry, that is the saddest reflection on the toll of a JW influence. If people want to stay - great. If people want to go - great. If they don't want to ever see another computer screen again, for as long as they live - great.
Life's too short to waste on arguments as to who's got the better site. Just find the one you're comfortable with, and get on with it. There's healing time a-wasting, and there's a whole lot of love in this room!

Roughly translated:
We can do it, but you can't.
Gotta love the veiled threats about copyright law, swiftly followed by scriptural reinforcement. THat last paragraph is a little terse, though. They must have struggled to fit it all on the back page, within two columns.
Looks like they are still trying to get rid of the old stock, eh, Latte?
This just shows how quickly the memory fails, but, I thought the "Advanced Directive" was the form, not the card.
Also, I note from that scan that we can look forward to our annual Gestapo visit (2nd Column, first bullet point).
Also that September is a "Pink" month Gotta love that funky colour.
I wonder what the amazing announcement will be in the October KM. What's the bet that it will be something to do with studying the new "Worship" book, with people.
what tune does it play?.
what tune would you really like to hear it play?.
mine's set to "the entertainer" (the theme from the sting), however i would really like it to play something more appropriate.
Mine's set to vibrate, too. I've been caught out in too many meetings, so I gave up in the end.
the nwt is a trnslation of the bible.(jw).
the jw's believe that something is only true if there are two witnesses.. the question is... why do the jw's belive that the nwt is a 'true translation' when there is only one witness to it.

Out of interest, what was the change they made to Wilson's Diaglott?
for example i might be at work discussing something with colleagues and then come out with an illustration...'its just like...etc.
' they then look at each other thinking what on earth am i on about.
but when i was a dub illustrations were cool!
Battman:
You're just kinky
Matty:
Good to see you around. Will you drop me an email sometime to let me know how you are doing? I'd like to hear how you are getting on, and I understand that we have some mutual friends.

i just read that the name, 'jehovah' was created 700 years ago by a catholic monk who took the vowels from the word, 'lord' and combined them with the letters yhwh (the unpronounceable, biblical term for god).. anyone ever heard this or know a credible source for this info?.
now here's potentially something to share with your next visiting jw!.
Just a complete aside...

Are you aware that your nik is the Scot's Gaelic word for God, pronouonced "jee ah"?

I still think with illustrations, since a good deal of my job involves training. I still find it the most effective way to break down a concept. It's just prone to being overdone in a forced JW environment.
The funniest illustration that I heard about, and was tempted to use, was for talk 13 "A Godly View of Sex and Marriage". Alledgedly a guy in the NY State gave an indepth illustration of how different people like their hamburgers different ways, some with mustard, some with ketchup, etc. His punchline was "And sisters - you know I'm not talking about hamburgers, don't you?".
