  Forbidden Pleasures ......

  this morning on the way to work, i burst into song.

  not just any song ... but the heretofore forbidden "star spangled banner".

  i just felt like singing and i wanted to sing something challenging and it seemed like the perfect choice.

  dantheman's soccer woes...and shunning

  been trying to involve myself in some different activities, now that i have some time on my hands, being de-towered and all.

  on sundays i've been playing soccer in an over-30 recreational league in town.. during a game last sunday, i was going after a guy who had the ball.

  he passed it to a guy who was behind me.

  My oldest daughter had a pair of glasses bent up from a soccer accident too...thank God for Lenscrafters ;)

  more useless shunning

  my brother and his family have taken it upon themseves to judge my unbaptized daughter (16 years old).

  they did not have the guts to tell her personally, but instead chose to do so thru her jdub father (who in turn didn't tell her), and a cousin who did let her know.

  this cousin stands by her and remains very close to her.

  I am so sorry that your daughter has to suffer such cruelty. It makes me sick to my stomach...

  The kind of treatment she is getting...is not something that anyone should ever have to go thru in the process of growing up...nor should she EVER have to go thru that.

  I would like just one person to show me an example of Christ shunning people when he walked the earth...

  ...still cant believe dubs call themselves Christians...doesnt make sense.

  I'm sure you've explained to her that its not her fault and for those who shun her....its really their loss and not hers. It is still family and it hurts tho'...but she needs to know that she is not to blame.

  i have to explain why i say this, why i miss the man who loved god so much.

  when i met my husband he was only 18 yrs old, and so deligent to serve jehovah.

  we were both so much alike, we loved our god, but also deep down, loved what the world had to offer.

  I was very moved by your post...one thing in particular caught my attention...

  We have been out a year and for the first time in our married life, we don't worship together, we don't study together anymore. He and I both read the bible as we feel the need to, but since we are on different levels of recovery leaving JW, we do our own , for now.

  That right there tells me that you have more faith than at least 80% of the people I know that go to church every Sunday.

  I'm very happy for you two.

  The Problem Around Here is

  that some people seem to think they are the authority on everything and feel like they should always get the last word.

  i try not to get involved in the flaming that goes on around here by checking my ego at the door and thats not the reason for this post anyway, but it's my experience that all of, without exception, jw are like this.

  the perceived arrogance that they alone are in possession of the only truth seems to compell them to keep an argument going even when they are clearly on the losing side so that they can be sure to get the last word in.

  According to reliable sauces Saddam has backpack nukes at his disposal and who knows where they are? The dollar is in deep trouble and deflation looms on the horizon. The artificial spending spree inspired by the refinancing of already deeply in debt homes will soon end and then the stock market will really start to nosedive.
