The first thing I did for a while was drink. Once I got that out of the system i started fishing a bit, mostly bass fishing in Ontario. I took some flying lessons at Buttonville and once i lost interest I took up squash. I started running to improve my squash and really got into running. Around that time I went back to school, and really had to start at the beggining. I've been back in school now and really don't think I'll ever stop, it is a real love and I'm committed to life long learning. I hope any young JW who is thinking about it gets another chance like I did. It is very hard to do manual labour when your brain is begging for more. The last few years I took up golf and have really gotten very bad at it, actually worse then when I started, and it's been a horrible addiction, but it keeps me interested. I've also been on many vacations and i've traveled a good deal. I'm very thankful for the life I have today.

I found some old threads and read up a bit, I think like a lot of things it's okay, in some respects to go online, but yeah, i can't be sure they are not still in, i just found a few old members on facebook and didn't want to approach them unless they were out. There is nothing they can do to me, but I always wonder what ever happened to...
thanks

I remeber my first computer course in grade 9. The computers had not arrived yet, but the Commodore64 was a thing of beauty, with the cassette tape memory, probably astroids was the first game on board, space invaders was available in the arcade and pinball was pretty well done. We had to save connect with another computer out of town to print and come back the next day and at small program would be waiting, things like converting celcius to to farenhiet. If A is >100 goto 20...they did not seem to useful at first sight that is for sure. It is a cool part of history since I have seen the changes and have been part of the story, banking on line, school, work...lub it.

This is the kind of stuff that makes the Internet great.
He does look a little dangerous in a gloryhole gone bad sort of way, i'm scared straight, i'm going back- get my 14 hours a month, hunker down for the big finale, i wonder if i'm qualified for any sort of job at the old kh aside from chasing skirt and what not.

Was The Internet The Clincher For You To Mentally Leave The Organization?
by minimus ini think it was for me.. i knew a lot of the history of the bible students, russell, rutherford and the "old light".

once i could see all of the overwhelming evidence right in front of my eyes, there was no ignoring the reality..

I left before the Internet was readily available. I probably would never have became one in the first place. When I was studying I'm sure I would have done some searching around and found out the truth about the...
Back then I only had people in giving me information and i took it at face value, even in books about cults JWs were only mentioned in a minor way and not with any real conviction. Anything negative was easily explained as Satan working against gods people, being tested and other crap.
From what I've heard and read, the Internet may actually put a good dent in the org, and it reminds me to rember some poor stiff maybe reading everything I write and I don't want to scare him away from investigating further.

Being raciest, need clarity.
by free2beme ingrowing up a witness, and having black friends and and relatives.
i was kind of in the dark as to what being a raciest was really based on.
so as i get older and think about it more, i thought it might be an interesting question to discuss what you think makes a person raciest and how they base this thinking.. i am going to use the african american racism in this example, as i think that more then any other group.

Scottish people are a real problem,
food is terrible, cheap, sound funny...some of my best friends are scottish, doesn't make it right, haggis.
this topic is and complicated, too complicated for me so I thought i'd wade it anyway, that is part of my back ground fight anyone for anything regardless of the no-win.

Is there 20 questions or something like that
by MartynAndrew ini know in aa they have questions like have you missed time from work because of your drinking, spent too much money, lied to loved ones.... is there such a thing as 20 questions if your a member of a destructive cult?.
1. you are not allowed to read this since you can't read outside information.. 2. you can't question the leaders or beliefs or you will be removed.. 3. black mail and bribery are used(like the mafia) to control.
second death vs. paradise.. 4.... if there isn't one i'd like to create one-with your help- and pdf for easy hand outs at memorial time.

We could count out number or handouts/time...hehe
Happy Sunday everyone. One of the greatest rewards of being cult free is golf, it has been the thing that has filled the void best.
Best Regards,
