BTW this makes my one thousandth post on JWnet! Wow time flies when you are having fun!
I know it is nothing compared to a lot of you so in 20 years when I hit 10,000 maybe I'll boast about it again lol...
i've published a new article on my blog about the agony that people go through in seeking reinstatement.
part one includes a personal experience of one that crawled throught this field of glass in order to be able to regain a relationship with a close friend that is asleep in the jw movement.. part two will have a transcript (and accompanying audio on my youtube channel) from a sister that recorded her entire reinstatement hearing, including what the elders said about her after she was dismissed from the room while they deliberated.. here's a peek at the article on jwstruggle:.
.. .. .. there are likely a number of you on jwnet that have "been there and back again" and gone through it.. what was the hardest thing about getting reinstated?.

• What was the hardest thing about getting reinstated?
• How long did it take?
• Would you do it again?
• Was it worth it?
i usually find fault with the religion but i must give credit when due.
in the hall my mom is in, they regularly check on her and assign different ones to visit and check on the elderly.. if there's a storm or an extremely cold day, they come by to make sure the elderly have everything they need..
It absolutely does vary by KH.
When I was in the club, the instructions were that the body of elders would be asked by the Circuit Overseer each visit if they have a "shepherding program". If they say "Yes" then he ticks it off the box and moves on.
Wanna guess how many elder bodies say "No, we don't really have a shepherding program..." when he asks that question?
here's a good one for you, looking at gen 17 and paul's subversive interpretive practices.

Such cutting whit you all have on this topic! Such razor sharp commentary! Pithy and succint, with all needless words snipped from the discussion!
so if the soc stop printing the yearly totals in the yearbook as many are predicting, does this mean there is no longer any need to keep track of each individuals hours?.
will this mean the end of our monthly reports?.

Bethel has always been number-based and statistic driven. I saw that when I was there in even small things. They would trumpet at morning worship that the 1 zillionth study book had just rolled off the press the day before, etc. And Ray Franz makes reference to that a couple times in is books.
Stop counting time and placements? NEVER.
i once heard of a circuit overseer blaming a loyal ministerial servant, that served as the accounts servant, of steeling from the contribution boxes, simply because he deposited the congregation funds bi-weekly instead of twice a week.
due to the accusation, the ms was immediately removed without hearing his side of the story.
isn't this rather counter-intuitive and innefficient?
At the risk of being torn to shreds, I will proceed:
Most of the COs I worked with over the years were, at least on the surface, good guys. Company men yes, most of them were of course. But when you're asleep in the Org you try and make it work I suppose.
Keith Kelly was hillarious, like a standup comic. Didn't really teach me a whole lot but very entertaining, a real cut up. Even Guy Pierce, who was a new CO doing his first circuit when he served us in Nevada Circuit #1, was incredibly nice, and quite funny when he taught my pioneer school. Even though I know now most of it was crap, there was still some nice men I worked with when I was an elder too, like Gene Fields and Russel Weaver. Russel and his wife we very fun and easy-going, and liked to drink martinis when you took them out to dinner. Gene was one CO (I think he is a D.O. now) that really cared about people and was frank about the flaws of the pubs and the elders. I wish I could talk to him about TTATT, although it probably wouldn't do any good as we all know.
Bob Kirk and Paul Sekella (sp?) on the other hand...well if you don't have anything nice to say...

That all being said, here is my one "Bad CO" story:
There was a CO visit where we needed to delete an elder. This CO did not want to remove the elder that we as a body recommended to be deleted. (If it ain't judicial it takes an act of God to get 'em out as they say) This elder was hurting people's feelings, shooting off his mouth, stumbling the friends and was harsh in his judgments. (It turned out a few years later we discovered he was a pervert and a cheat too.) Anyway, when it came time to decide, this CO calls for a secret vote, which is very unusual.
Once he collects these slips of paper from all the elders, he says, well the majority has voted to retain him. Everyone was like "WTH?" looking at each other, but a vote's a vote so that was that. In the parking lot we started talking and lo and behold we HAD VOTED TO REMOVE this guy, but the CO had lied in his effort to keep the elder in. Pretty low stuff. He got called back the next day (Monday his day off!) and got his butt spanked but claimed it was an accidental miscount. Yeah right!

I think some of the posts here are a little strongly worded.
Circumcision of your baby son is a personal decision and if you don't want to do it then don't. It causes no lasting harm and many millions of people do feel there are benefits to it. So why be so dogmatic and worked up over it peeps?
with respect to the elimination or removal of "old" literature - are there any pdfs of any of these letters?.
i read somewhere that directives have been issued over the years which contributes to the reason that older publications cannot be found in the kingdom halls.

Also you can find them all on www.jwleaks.org
it's nearly 2 months now but mrs punk finally left myself (mentally diseased apostate tm) with my 2 non kingdum hell attending boys.. she left when my jw daughter moved out and they moved in together.
i don't think it'll be long before my daughter gets sick of her mum but there you go!!.
i received a call from mrs punk to say: 'i didn't leave you because of the religion!'.
Punk you are in my prayers bro!
in his books ray franz mentions the name of the man who was the governing body secretary.
i believe this person also left the witnesses during the 1980s purge.
what became of this person?
Thanks llamacool. Jon Mitchell's booklet helped me immensely in figuring out this important point about who go to heaven and the real identity of the Great Crowd. The embedded summary of it is online and on a website, but that is all that remains of the full booklet.
I tried for literally a solid year to get a hold of a copy of it, even calling someone at the BRCI. I spent hours searching the 'net for it. Finally a brother in Oz that posts regularly on JWStruggle agreed to have his copy scanned and then emailed it to me. I would happily buy hard copies and hand them out to awakening JWs if I could, but alas Commentary Press is still disfunctional and in tatters years after Ray's death.
This booklet should be out and available to the public. It would be a great service to the thousands that are trying to learning TTATT right now if it was. Perhaps there is a used copy available on Amazon for some ludicrous amount like $318.34?
It's a tragedy IMO.
