The true meaning of "Jehovah" and the "overlapping generation" REVEALED!
by slimboyfat inthere has been some renewed interest in the meaning of the name jehovah on the forum in recent weeks.
combined with the ongoing discussion about the new "overlapping generation" teaching, speculation among the friends and among the ex-friends has been reaching something of a frenzy.
so it's perhaps appropriate that a little more should be revealed now about the meaning behind some of the perplexing events that have been taking place.

Interesting from JWTalk. Borg picture being used...
by Newly Enlightened ini was lurking on jwtalk [gung ho borg forum] and came across a picture of capt.
picard as a borg for a moderator's avatar 'staff'.
does this mean it's a 'in your face' for the apostates?

Was Alias written by former JWs?
by Londo111 inspoiler alert!.
i finally got through all five seasons on netflix.
this series really floundered toward the end...sometimes the plot devices made characters like sloan do some wacky things...hes evil, hes good, hes evil, hes good.

First 3 seasons of Alias = GREAT
4th season of Alias = OKAY
5th season of Alias = SUCKED
It suffered from the X-Files problem, and the Lost problem too...just sort of disintegrated and got more and more silly IMO.
Have you seen Nikita with Maggie Q? That's been a fun show, reminds me of Alias, which of course has some common thread with La Femme Nikita.

My Letter to Brooklyn about the Parousia that got me disfellowshipped
by cofty inthis is the letter i wrote back in '96 about the parousia.
following the '95 watchtower that disconnected the "generation" from 1914 i began to look carefully at end-time prophecy and soon discovered what i knew were basic errors in what i had been taught.. i was a loyal jw at the time and was still serving as an elder.
i used only watchtower publications in my research.

Are individual Governing Body members humble?
by Londo111 inwhen reading the watchtower publications, that seems hard to believe...especially now that the governing body has declared itself and itself alone the faithful and discreet slave (something that neither the apostles nor russell were), directly appointed in 1919 by christ, the unique channel of god upon who our salvation depends.
and such statements do not even scratch the surface of the arrogant and grandiose proclamations that are promulgated from the top down.. .
however, a few people who have met governing body members have said how kind and humble they were.

I met most of the last wave of GB when I was there...and also knew current member Guy Pierce, he taught my pioneer school back when he was a CO.
I saw several of them behave arrogantly when I was there in the late 80s early 90s, like Schroeder, Klein, Jaracz, and Henschel.Klein chewed me out once and was shaking and clenching his teeth really over the top weird. Schroeder and Henschel got bent out of shape bc a waiter broke up the table they were sitting at before noon meal (not enough people at it, it was a rule), and Schroder chewed that guy out and you could see the anger and outrage on his face that they dared to make him dispurse to another table. Jaracz had arrogance written all over his face it was obvious.
Barr, Sydlik, Swingle, Gangas seemed really nice. Barber was c r a z y but very funny.

Former Long Time Elder - Judicial Committees
by James Jackson inwhen i first was appointed as an elder, i could not wait to be on a judicial committee.
it semed like most hearings invovled middle age men and women cheating on their mates because either they had married early or felt that were being neglected by their mate.
most times i felt i need to take a long hot shower after a hearing.. the toughest part was seeing these sweet young children grow up in "the truth", and now you are about to judge their future based on their repentance.

I DFed way to many...attended about 200 JC meetings I estimate...We had only 3-4 elders for several years and lots and lots of hanky panky going on...
I had the tears, the fears, the backlash from the family, had many hate me bc of it, even though I was just "doing my job". Totally thought it was a loving arrangement from Gee-hovah blah blah blah I look back on it and am disgusted like the rest of you.
Welcome James Jackson you are among friends!
.
It has to stop and someday bc of all our efforts it may. Either way, more and more are waking up. I just had a sister email her recorded JC where she faced a 3 man firing squad and asked me to put it up on my JWStruggle YouTube channel...gonna be a lot of work as the accents are hard for me to figure out (Sorry they are lol!) but it is gonna be a good one I think once I make all the many subtitles.

Letter to the local paper...again.
by tresdecu inlast year i wrote a letter to the religion writer at the local paper.
didn't get very far...but thought i'd do it again.
can't hurt, right.. here it is:.

Same experience with me as Steve2. The local paper had a columnist that was a very outspoken, in your face JW with a small following that loved her column. She would not stand for "negative press" and the local writers were mostly copy and paste people anyway.
When they built a local Kingdom Hall or whatever, only a boilerplate puff piece ever was printed.

The Governing Body & 2 Corinthians 4:5
by Honesty in2 corinthians 4:5. for we are preaching, not ourselves, but christ jesus as lord, and ourselves as your slaves for jesus sake.
whom does the governing body preach as the means of salvation?.
does the governing body's actions prove that they preach themselves as jw's slaves ot does it prove to be the other way around and jw's are really the governing body's slaves?.
