Thanks llamacool. Jon Mitchell's booklet helped me immensely in figuring out this important point about who go to heaven and the real identity of the Great Crowd. The embedded summary of it is online and on a website, but that is all that remains of the full booklet.
I tried for literally a solid year to get a hold of a copy of it, even calling someone at the BRCI. I spent hours searching the 'net for it. Finally a brother in Oz that posts regularly on JWStruggle agreed to have his copy scanned and then emailed it to me. I would happily buy hard copies and hand them out to awakening JWs if I could, but alas Commentary Press is still disfunctional and in tatters years after Ray's death.
This booklet should be out and available to the public. It would be a great service to the thousands that are trying to learning TTATT right now if it was. Perhaps there is a used copy available on Amazon for some ludicrous amount like $318.34?
It's a tragedy IMO.

JW's and cigars (research thread)
by wallsofjericho ini feel like i have never had a satisfactory answer on this.. my experience has been that there has never been a solid stance by the wts on cigars.. i do not have the cd-rom installed right now but for a long time i could not find a definitve statement against cigar smoking.
i did find an article from a few years back that commented it gave you stained teeth and bad breath, but i can hardly see how these are df'ing offenses.
this would rule coffee for sure and a whole host of foods that do this also.. does anyone have the cd-rom installed and are able to dig up some info?

I've wondered about this also. When I first was leaving the JWs I got a cigar and puffed on it and thought OMG this is so sinful but it was actually fun bc it had a great taste and was "forbidden". But if no inhaling occurs and very little damage is done to your body then they really don't have a Biblical leg to stand on.
I read that article by the MD and personally can't swallow the argument that it is just as harmful as cigarette smoking. Most smokers dont do just ONE cigarette but many in a day. Cigars are usually just a once in a while thing so the amount smoked would generally be radically less. And at the end of the article he concedes that there is usually way less consumption with cigars, thereby invalidating most of his argument IMO.
My friend Greybeard got called up on the phone awhile back by an elder that said they wanted to meet with him regarding his "apostate leanings". He ripped the guy apart verbally and one of the things he said was,
"You guys DF people for smoking bc it's harmful to your body. Well your belly is enormous, you are huge and you are OBESE and that is way more harmful to your body than if a person was to smoke a few cigarettes!" (It was kinda mean but true he is a very heavy guy)
So it is a good, logical point he made. But since when is the WT logical? Mainly it goes back to appearances with the JWs, so as to "not give a bad Witness" and that's what they would use as a reasoning point to try and "help you see the light". If you don't see WT light, then of course they will DF you in short order for chomping a stogey.

Were you popular in your congregation or district?
by Emery innot to start some form of popularity contests here but i was wondering how popular some people were?
how far did your network go in this organization?
this question also pertains to those who are actively fading..

@Cedars - " did anyone else have random people coming up to them at assemblies acting like they were long-time buddies when you didn't have a clue who they were?"
YES YES YES that happened to me fairly often, it cracks me up thinking about it again. I suppose since I gave 1-2 public talks every month in some other KH, and had a part on every assembly people thought they knew me.
Of course it is flattering and that is part of what makes it a drug to these men that rise the ladder within the Org. During the workweek most of them are "nobodies" in normal society, but then on meetings nights, shep calls, etc. they feel like rock stars. Not unique...just pathetic.

Molested By a Governing Body Member Interview with Mark Palo

I do know that the Highly-Respected-Sometimes-Hated-Tell-It-Like-It-Is-Presiding-Overseer-Elder-Man Robert Gallaty (who was formerly my FIL ugggh) took in Leo for a couple months at his home shortly after he was "retired" from the GB.
He fondly told me a couple stories of how intelligent LG was, how he could read an entire WT mag in 15 minutes, blah blah blah. (I personally think that was simply bc so much in the Washtowel is regurgitated from previous years)
He also said once Leo gave a comment at the WT study about Balaam's donkey being stubborn and said with a laugh (in this high-pitched, lilting voice) that the reason was because "He was a silly ass hehe" and then clapped his hand over his mouth in (I think mock) embarassment.
Eldur Gallaty then ended the story by saying, "I have no idea what he did to get sent home...(long pause)...and I don't wanna know."
Once I found out just how sick that above comment by my highly Ree-spehhhk-tid FIL was it literally turned my stomach.

BoE letters
by Jourles inso i'm curious, has anyone continued with the collection and archival of all the boe letters?
i still have all of them from '77 to '01, but would be interested in reading/acquiring the others from '01-current.
i would love to host them again, but this time from a computer that sits on an anonymous vpn.

Virtually all the WT "secret" docs are out and easily found.
Are there ANY docs/letters besides the internal WT pedo database that aren't available?

I listened to an audio interview on YouTube about two years ago and Mr Palo comes across as credible. He seems to be an intelligent man and does not come across nutty at all. He testifies that he was molested by Leo Greenlees, former member of the Governing Body when he was a child.
We already know that Leo was a homosexual, which is a BIG no-no for the JWs. Adding this to the mix just makes the accused-sins of these men mass even up higher still.
The YouTube clips I listened to are on JWStruggle.com under "Media".
I personally never watched the interview with him and Rick refernced above. Listening to his story once was enough, it's not pleasant the torture this man went through.

Still Waiting For the Governing Body To Explain Their New Light
by Cameron_Don inregarding the governing bodys new light relative to matthew 24:45-47, anointedjw.org recently said the following:.
this new light certainly poses a problem for the governing body.
perhaps this is another reason why they have not yet published a sober and scriptural xplanation of this new light.

As seen with the recent two-part article on 607, they only have to address something and regurgitate the same old tropes for it to be considered "settled" in the minds of the willing sheeple of the KH.
I suspect the same will happen. Time will pass, knowledge of this "new light" will have trickled down to virtually all the rank and file Joe Publishers out there and then by the time it gets printed in a WT study that asserts it as fact, it will be a ho hum event because everybody already knows that change was made at last year's annual meeting, right?

@00DAD - You said:
"Sounds like someone screwed up from the platform. Wasn't the first time, and it won't be the last."
Happens fairly often actually- When I stepped down, I turned in a letter, met with the body, etc. After they were satisfied and the WTS sent a letter back approving my step down, the COBE gets up on the platform and says, "RayPublisher has been deleted."
DUH? OOPS? WHAT? The irony is that even if a person IS ACTUALLY deleted, the annoucement is always the same: "So-and-so is no longer serving as a _______".
After the meeting one of the brothers was furious, he came up to me and said "You weren't deleted YOU STEPPED DOWN!" (I had already told several friends that I was stepping down)
But once it's announced they can never go back and fix anything-- it's too late then, and they won't fix it without an act of God.
