It's an embarrassing subject, to say the least. The logic used to defend it.... is as illogical as it gets.

So what do your Jehovah's Witness friends and loved ones think of the generation teaching?
by garyneal inafter the little skit at the last assembly where one brother was asking another for understanding about the generation teaching i thought, "wow, these people will believe anything the watchtower tells them.
" the 'more mature brother' practically said verbatim everything the watchtower said as his explanation.
evidently, this is one of the sources of the increased 'murmuring' that the talked warned against.. so, has anyone brought this up to their witness friends and/or family?

Tendencies toward fanaticism
by Terry inin a "cause and effect" world detached from logical fallacy we probably would have an enormous drop in fanatical thinking and behavior.. but, we don't.. some of us fall prey to fallacious thinking.
we fail to sort out the facts.
we group our "cause" and our "effects" out of synch with actual data.. .

Are you an athiest and why?
by LouBelle ini'm interested in finding out people's reasons as to why they are athiest.. i have simply through life experience, my research into religions over the years come to that conclusion.
never thought i would come to a day that i did not believe in a god.
believing in a god is like believing in super man, it would be great if he existed but well it's just a fairy tale.

Just try praying and see if you get any answer. After a life-time of prayer, I've finally grown up. If you enjoy the calming placebo effect, by all means.

"Do you still feel Jehovah is directing the Organization?"
by outsmartthesystem infor those of you with experience being asked this question.....or those of you that are/were elders........ what would happen if you responded to that question by saying "i don't know"?.
what would happen if you responded with "i choose not to answer that question."?
and then when they ask why, you say "because i wish to invoke my 5th amendment rights".

by mP inive been thinking the problem is jws look like everyone else.
this makes it too easy for them to merge or forget they are different.
jw kids with long pointy hats cant run or play w/ worldly kids.

So is it safe to say that my refusal to answer that question will be interpreted as a "no" by the 3 elders and then the DF process starts?
Yes. You either buy into it, head-nodding enthusiastically, or you're out.
Think about it this way. They think, "Why would he refuse to answer, unless he doesn't feel Jehovah is directiong the Organization?"
Either way, depending on your elders, this could be considered "brazen conduct", which is also subject to DF.
