  Would this be a stretch--replace "communist" and "Politics/Political" with "WT"?

  Everywhere WT indoctrination was being pushed, in factories, offices, schools, hospitals, and in apartment blocks and streets. WT committees organized weekly meetings to teach WT doctrine. The “Rectification Movement” was begun, designed to rectify wrong thinking and ways. This meant not merely getting the people to think progressively and improve their work methods, but, more particularly, to clear out their old WT views, adopting instead the ideas of the Current-WT system. The workers were told they should criticize one another as well as themselves. Any previous comments not favorable to the WT regime should be openly confessed. Pressure was put on the workers to expose others, and such ones were then badgered continually until they finally admitted having said wrong things, and professed repentance.

  perhaps the most common misunderstanding that prevents people from grasping evolution is complexity.. we see it almost daily on the forum where people mention dna or the eye or any of a multititude of examples and ask how it could have arose "by blind chance"?.

  whenever you see a reference to chance and complexity it is obvious the person hasn't yet grasped the basics of the theory.

  chance is only one part of the process.

  (Sorry it took so long Djeggnog...it must have been your condescending attitude and insults that helped clarify what you really meant). ;)

  What you said was:

  But since you admit the master (not the slave) is the one that 'owns' the "domestics" and that the "domestics" are the slave's fellow slaves (not owned by the slave, but rather by the master), what you really meant was:

  ...it is by means of holy spirit that the "faithful and discreet slave" (Matthew 24:45-47), as represented by the Governing Body, received its appointment to preside over the master's slave's fellow slaves...

  Ahhh...feels so good to finally have figured out your meaning. Thanks for your help Djeggnog -- insults, false accusations/assumptions and all! ;)

  Mt 24:47 ...he will set him over all his possessions.

  "His" = Master's

  Means they are the maser's possessions.

  Djeggnog: ...received its appointment to preside over the slave's "domestics"...

  Means they are the slave's possessions ("domestics").

  That's how I read these two similar but very different excerpts/messages.

  WMF, I think I see what you're saying. When you put djeggnog's statement next to that verse (which he did cite), in djeggnog's own statement he changes it slightly so they belong to the slave (?). To me it sounds contradictory, but maybe he didn't intend for it to sound that way (?). I guess all that really matters to me is what a typical JW would think regarding this verse, and it sounds to me that djeggnog is not the one to look to for a typical JW understanding of things (?).

  Ding, that's what I gathered, although I tried that route and it only raised more questions without truly answering the original question in the sense I was asking (or if it did, I wasn't confident that it did, so it warranted me asking more questions), and I'm not sure it would have ever been cleared up by him even if we had continued.
