i decided to start this topic when ozziepost shared the experience of a bethel representative telling him and mrs. ozzie "and don't forget, we've got your children!
it's important for us to hear these experiences and to share them with each other.
it helps us tear down the mistaken beliefs that the incidents that happen to us are not isolated ones, but are in fact par for the course when one parts ways with the jws and wts.
It is quite disgusting how some people will go out of their way to say and do cruel and hurtful things. Says a lot about them though, doesn't it?
when you said "bye" as you were passing him, he would retort "bye now, pay later"

in compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".
the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

its pretty clear to me that my continued depression and anxiety is mostly tied up with even after all these years, still basically thinking like a witness.
1. i expect things to be perfect.
i expect myself to be perfect and am continually disappointed.
I liken the JW "symptoms", which we all go through, as poisons leeching out from our bodies as we come to a closer understanding of the reality. The JWs have had decades to fine-tune their cultic hold. For us to break free takes courage and tenacity. No one said we would immediately become completely free; it takes some people a matter of weeks and others years. The good news is that eventually we really do get free!

it is the christmas time of year, so what better topic then being rude.
as this time of the year, often brings the rudeness out, from even the nicest of people.
take for example what happened to me today.
I'm not going to share a specific horror story about rudeness, but I will comment on my experience as a JW kid. I was conditioned to accept and expect all sorts of affronts against my being. I was trained to not call to task someone who was out of line, uncouth, foul, or offensive. I knew many other JW kids who were trained in the same manner. I cannot begin to tell of the pain and humiliation I was taught to put up with in KH and KH related situations. I was taught to be passive in this respect, and unfortunately for me, this kind of upbringing is "the gift that keeps giving". But I am learning.
i was thinking about how one of the cult tactics come into play in such a simple action, like commenting at the meetings.
don't know if it was the same everywhere, but at our hall, sometimes the wt study conductor would call on a couple of people in sequence, the first would give thier comment, then brother "i get to carry the microphone" would run over to the other, just for them to say "he, she had my thought".
just that statement "they had my thought" says so much now.
I remember at one WT study there was a sister who thought that she didn't get called on enough, so she brought one of those rubber finger things that you wear at a football game and put that on to get the conductors attention.

we have repeatedly seen the breakdown of the cost of raising a child, (negative side mostly) but this is the first time the rewards are listed this way.
