what happens to wts writers who write mistakes in printed pubs
by mP ingiven that the printed word is forever and cannot be erased do the writers get into trouble for the embarassment they cause ?
every mistake results in someone today or tommorrow or nnext year and so on losing faith which is a disasyer for the org.
how do they hope to control these errors and prevent them from happening in the future.?

An Elder's honest opinion...saw this on another site...thoughts?

before i express my opinion to the readers and contributors to this website (www.ex-jw.com), i would like to explain who i am and to present my bona fides as someone qualified to comment on this website and jehovah's witnesses in general.. first of all, i am an active jehovah's witness living just outside of new york city.
being a large metropolis, new york has many kingdom halls located within the city and several more in surrounding boroughs, counties, and suburbs.

I don't know what to make of you Shadow Elder. You say that you are "Qualified" to comment on this website as in many others. So is everyone else who is registered here. But you make it appear like you are superior in "Qualifications". So, let me ask you kind sir. Who "Qualified" you and what are your "Credentials"? That is so JW of you to speak like that since for over 100 they have been preaching that they are the "Chosen" religion and that they "Speak" for God. Where are their "Credentials" or certificates if any? You describe yourself as the average citizen which is a nice thing. I agree with everything that you have posted about the WTBS, I have no problem with that. But, I find you to be somewhat untrustworthy of being a true friend. You speak against your organization and yet you stay and try to hide your identity. That's fine, I stayed for a long time even though I had numerous doubts. What I can't respect you for sir is your condecending attitude towards that fine people that try to convey their thoughts and opinions on this site by attacking their lack of knowledge of spelling, grammar and how to develope a thought. Well, most people aren't as eloquent or literate as you are, but anyone who takes the time to express their thoughts, are ok by me no matter what their educational level is. It takes great courage to do so. You sir, speak out against your own religious organization, you are disrespectful against the people who express themselves here or anywhere for not "Knowing" as much as you and frankly, I think you have no business posting on this website. Your points against the WT are just a repetion of what's been said before.

I guess I'm in a particularly morose mood today
by wha happened? inbut i guess i finaly had it at the office with religion.
(there are two dubs and everyone else just throws in comments).
i guess living the life of a dub for a number of years took a lot of the belief out of me.. i think what threw me the most is when i hear people saying that god is like a parent, a father watching over his children.

I've often wondered if God is a father figure to all creation.. then... why did dinosaurs have such sharp teeth and claws.... and why Sharks are carnivorus and why some snakes have such lethal poison... and why have there been at least five life ending episodes on Planet Earth... the last of which ended the dinosaurs with sharp teeth and claws reign over the planet. Could religion be a fairy tale? I don't know the answer to that.

on another thread, one poster shared a humiliating experience they had in a judicial committee hearing.
the poster was asked, as it typical of such hearings, a series of highly personal and extremely intrusive questions regarding their sexual activities.

I've not seen them for four years - elder puts Memorial invite on my door
by truthseeker ini just came back from shopping, was about to pull up in the driveway and noticed an elder from my old hall and his young child working the territory.. i waited till they left and parked.
i noticed i was the only one who got a memorial invite, none of my neighbors got one.
so they weren't working the territory but stopped by to give me an invite.

Since they have your address and know that you are/where a JW it is easier for them to come to your door without any resistance. It is easy "preaching" for them. If you are there it's.... "Hi... How have your been... we miss you"... If it's a non-believer/neighbor they might have to try really hard to explain what the Memorial is really about (according to the JW's) and that might take somewhat longer and confusing time. It's all about the monthly reporting. Just going through the motions to stay active. I did it, many do it, most dread it. Good luck to you!

Judicial Committee Meetings Sexual Matters
by Celestial inanyone had three elders (judicial committee) question you on sex before marriage?.
case in point, being raised as one of jehovah's witnesses, i partied with peers that were witnesses by tradition, inherent faith.
at the age of eighteen (1992), i was conversing about the elders with a group of witnesses, and a girl who had been before a judicial committee chimed in and said, they ask questions that are none of their fucking business.

I was called to a JC when I was trying to be reinstated. One of their questions was "Since you are a single man, do you masturbate?" Another of their questions was "Have you ever sexually abused children?" After the shock of those questions had passed me, I asked one of the Elder's: Are these standard questions that you ask everyone? His response was "Yes, they are standard questions that we ask everyone." I lied on the first question and there was no fire or lighting or an angel striking me dead for having lied to a JC under prayer. I can understand their second question, since from what I have been reading on different sites it is a big problem within the $ociety. I stopped going to the meetings shortly after that meeting since the organization stopped making sense to me once I read CoC, members of JWN, Freeminds and JWFacts. Good luck to all.

Reduced Magazines Etc: Scenario Thinking
by metatron inforgive me for creating this thread but i believe there are aspects of watchtower downsizing that have not been fully understood or 'fleshed out'.. for example: you have a publishing company whose main source of revenues are book and magazine production and sales.
their international presence is supported by the profits they make on these.
so far, so good.... overtime, their products fail to sell.
