I went to Christmas Eve services with my daughter at the little church she likes to go to...and right across the aisle was a man in a yarmulka. He was having a wonderful time! Now THATS the right attitude.
Lets SHARE our holidays not DIVIDE over them. Learn from each others cultures. If someone wishes me a happy Kwanza I know they are doing so with no ill intent.

one of the police officers here is a transplanted new yorker who was raised as a jw by his g'ma.. he and i talk a lot about his jw experience, his g'ma, and his children (boy age 18, girl age 11).. his kids are both talented athletes (tennis) and the son won a tennis scholarship to university.
he hopes the daughter will follow in her brother's footsteps.. mr. officer mentioned that one saturday, after a particularly strenuous workout, he gave his daughter a bottle of red gatorade to drink.
he said she resisted drinking it at first, but he put his foot down and made her do it.. well, come sunday, he got an urgent message at work that he was to call home immediately.
Aww that poor baby girl..she must have been HORRIFIED. When I started in like 1967, my mother who never told me ANYTHING, opened the bathroom door, whipped a BELT and a kotex pad (they didnt have the stick on kind then) and said here use this. No instructions whatsoever.
Then...she announced AT DINNER "LovesDubs became a WOMAN today! She got her first period!"
Damn near killed her.

a couple of hours ago when i got home from shopping the telephone rang my son answered it he said, "mom, aunt mary just called and uncle richard just passed away", i was just devasted.
it isn't sinking in.
my mind isn't somewhere else.. i believe i mentioned about him in a post a few days ago that he was just diagnosed with pulmanary fibrosis, i am in total shock, as the doctor told him he had about one to three years to live.
Oh Orange! Im soooo sorry honey. I cant even imagine losing my family...I havent yet but its inevitable and part of life.

tuesday sees the last group bookstudy for many.
i know the group that my wife attends will be having a bit of a party afterwards.
even my son ,who is 17 and has not attended the meetings for the past 6 months, says he wants to go on tuesday.
