Is the UN 'scandal' the big one ?

looking at the stats, there are well over 14,000 views of the thread about the un.

the next 'most read' thread is around 9,500 so it is clearly a burning issue.. i wonder if the involvement with the un is the biggest threat to the wts?.

they are getting badly burnt because of their covering up child abuse and www.silentlambs.org is doing a great job of raising the profile of this but even so, i can see the 'mental defense mechanism' of many jws excusing this as 'individuals imperfection'.. they cannot excuse the gb getting in bed with the un.

protesters against JWs at WTC on 9/11?

my fiance's mother, who is in complete hysteria since the attack on 9/11 and went back to being a witness after 10 years (clearly the main reason my fiance is now considering he should go back)told my fiance something that she heard from one of the elders last week.

i am not sure if it is true and most likely, there is no way to prove it.

she said that on the day of the attack, there was a group of people outside the wtc screaming and badmouthing jws because they don't fly the flag etc.

To my knowledge JWs dont yet glow in the dark so there is no way anyone would KNOW they were JWs if they were there which they werent. If anybody was going to protest against JWs they wouldnt do it at the WTC they would have CROSSED the freakin bridge and done it OUTSIDE JW HEADQUARTERS.

The one thing that REALLLLLY pissed me off about the JWs and being one was that they were SOOOO willing to accept as FACT any bullshit that came down the line that was TOTAL fabrication if it allowed them to look PERSECUTED. There need be absolutely NO proof of the reality of things...they just ACCEPT THEM AS FACT and then proceed to SPREAD THEM AS FACT.

JW protestors at the WTC are about as real as SMURFS COMING TO LIFE IN THE KINGDOM HALL AND BITING PEOPLE!

All this poor US poor little innocent US crap makes me gag.

Are apostates stopping the WT from mainstreaming?

i was thinking about this un thing.

on one of the threads, someone had commented how the wt's association with the un would explain a lot of the changes in wt policy regarding blood, disfellowshipping etc.

i think this is likely.. it is entirely possible therefore, that the un association has been a good thing.

The Watch Tower Society NEVER does anything that isnt in its own interests. Anything that would resemble mainstreaming or even COOPERATION with nonJWs or other religions is carefully masked as sincerity but actually self serving. They didnt side with who was that Falwell? when he was sued to pay taxes on literature...they were decided apart from him but wanting to save money themselves. When they said that Bulgarian JWs would no longer have sanctions for taking blood, they decidedly LIED just so that Bulgaria would allow them to preach there. They side with governments and the European Commission on Human Rights to get their preaching work done in Georgia, Russia, but continue to have nothing but CONTEMPT for the other religions in the same political hot spot as they are...each "victory" from jehovah each "setback" persecution from Satan. They didnt suddenly change their entire preaching routine in the light of the events of Sept 11 for the sake of the PEOPLE..they saw an opportunity to sell their GOODS and are taking advantage of it like ambulance chasing lawyers. They changed the name of their facility here in West Palm Beach, if I recall, to Christian Convention Center or some such nonsense...trying to remove the JW stigma and make them more appealing to the neighborhood. They have NO INTENSION of becoming anything even REMOTELY LIKE mainstream Christianity. Dont be fooled.

jon gave me his password a few weeks ago and asked me to post to the board if something happened to him.

as some of you know jon had been undergoing cancer treatment since the end of july.

Has anyone prepared for further attacks here?

just wondering.. i find myself having little mini panic attacks about all this.

now that i have a little one to be responsible for, i am a little nervous.. i am strongly fighting the urge to have my car loaded up with a weeks worth of supplies for us (ie food, gear, clothes, diapers, water) so if something happens big here - i can head out to canada.. warning (haha) be ready my canadian friends - my daughter and i may be joining you.. anyone else feeling these "survivalist" feelings?????.

My 10 year old was supposed to go to Washington DC on a trip with all the patrols from Palm Beach County...a thing they do every year as a reward to the patrols. 5000 kids on a train headed for the capitol. You think THAT wouldnt be a prime target? Shit...that trip is SO not gonna happen for MY kid. Im not into being a hero just to please Bush and Juliani. If they are surrounding the capitol with even MORE military now and putting the vice president in a freakin bunker, theres NO WAY Im sending my child up there.

That (first) case of anthrax was only a few miles from here..that set me back some. But where that stuff is concerned there is nothing you can do about it really. Nada. So...we order that pizza and go to that little league game and wince when those planes fly over.

i was wondering when the hell samuel herd was going to shut up.. blab blab blab.... aren't we wonderful, oh we are so wonderful.. about the only thing that was said that i could see as being something which the gb would see as touchy enough to warant the multiple announcements for " no tape recorders, no video recorders and no computer note taking" would be the statement by herd that there's "going to be a lot off killing, billions will die ....in swift fashion".

and the other gb (fill in the name) who talked about being in the new world "in two hundred years".... wow.. that's leaving enough prophetic lee-way for the gb heirs to the thrones.. much emphasis was placed on the "...two roads to the new system ...the high road and the low road".

I was told they had to cancel the West Coast part of this because the Padres were in the playoffs or something? Armageddon will have to wait...we have a pennant race going on here folks. :)

I think they had this thing planned then based on Sept 11 had to totally SCRAP what they were going to say but couldnt cancel it either.
