I love thunderstorms. I live in S. Florida and they are commonplace. Until the tree 14 feet from my house got struck by lightening last week. Scared the hell outta me. Ive never seen a light like that. I think maybe thats what happened to Saul on the road to Damascus!

I hate thunderstorms....
by butalbee ini really hate thunder storms, must admit.
i try not to hide in my basement anymore though, shuddering in a corner, reading a book by flashlight waiting for them to pass.
unplugging all electrical applicances, telephone outlets, like a mad woman... looks like we're gonna get one tonight, it's getting closer to us, as per weather.com.

A year on
by Cuzzy inhey there all!
sorry it has been so long since i last posted on the site...im glad to be back again .....and hope to now post regulary.. as we all stop to remember the life changing events of september 11th 2001....i too reflect on the week that changed my life forever.
it is now coming up to a year since i was kicked out (9th september) by my 'mother', who is a jehovah's witness....and a year since i left the religion.......it was no easy decision to make....and one that i didnt take lightly....but it was bascially made for me when i realised that no one in the congregation believed me......and i was shunned.... for months i had my doubts that i had made the worst decision of my life...... and just recently asked to have a meeting with an elder........but i 'woke up' to myself..and realised nothing had changed........that the matter had been swept under the carpet....and no one was....nor is prepared to do anything about it..... its taken a year but im moving on with my life....im trying to let go off the anger, resentment and despair that i feel towards the past.......life's too short to live in the past.........it's not easy by any standards trying to let go of the guilt, and trying to find yourself...... i'm finding out what the real me is like.......im not told anymore who i should be, what im doing wrong...and what i should be thinking....im now living life as i feel i should live it....sure people still judge me....but at the end of the day...i have to live with my decisions and their consequences............. it's certainly a lot harder not being a jehovah's witness...well at least in the early stages...but as time passes i appreciate life more everyday...........im glad i was able to take that step out of my comfort zone (religion) when i did...... .

Cuzzy...welcome {{{{}}}} I dont know what happened to you...but you came to the right place to have the boo boo kissed to make it go away and feel better. Getting the JWs to admit blame error or ownership when they have hurt us is like making my mother admit she treated me like crap most of my life. She has absolutely and conveniently...no memory of having ever done anything to me. Whatever it was...I made it all up and I need to get over it. I dont even try to get closure from them or her any more. I just shut the stupid door myself. :)

Why do men have nipples???
by Celtic ini always did wonder about this, i mean, what function do they have and further, if, just supposing that we are made in the image of god, does god himself have the equivalent of nipples?
any insights proffered?

Strangest experience on field service?
by haujobbz ini think the strangest experience i had on the ministry was when i spoke to a witch and she said she knew i was a jw and that the devil told her all the details of armaggeddon, etc.
it was so funny lol.
also i remember someone telling me that all of a sudden they became ill and when trying to go through the congregation door they just couldnt get through because a force was stopping them, so what then happened was that the elders asked her if anyone had given her anything so she said then recalled bying something seond hand, so guess what she realised this gold ring she bought might have been owned by someone demonised so she got rid of it and then her ilness went and she could get through the congregation door, how mad is that .

I once had to take a "turn" going door to door with our resident manic depressive during one of his manic stages...and I loved the man dont get me wrong...but he was rather unpredictable.
He went to a door once and a woman answered. He flipped open a magazine to show her an article in it without looking at it...and shoved it in her face and said "You NEED this information!" She looked at it horrified and slammed the door. When I looked at what he was holding...
It was an article on MASTURBATION LOLOLOL!!

What org rules were stupid to you?
by MARTINLEYSHON inwhen i was in the truth i thought that the most ludicrous and petty ruling they ever introduced and still practiced is that congregation book study conductors were and are responsible for collecting every group members report.
surely every member ought to be responsible for his/her own actions.
at the beginning of the following month and certainly before the 5th i would always receive the stupid telephone call from the secretary are you aware that 3 publishers havent reported?

When I was in the BSC WAS in charge of collecting our reports.
I hated all the stupid assembly rules:
BE SEATED!
NO TALKING!
BROTHERS WANTED!
KEEP MOVING! (baaaa baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa)
HOLD HANDRAIL!
USE ONLY ONE PAPER TOWEL!
SISTERS DO NOT APPLY MAKEUP HERE! (sign in the womens john mirror...usually a converted MENS john since we held them at the racetrack)NO SAVING OF SEATS FOR PERSONS NOT IN YOUR CARGROUP! (who the hell was going to check if somebody was in your CAR or not??)
Oh...and the rule in the meetings where if a sister answered and her answer wasnt GOOD ENOUGH>> the brother had to call on a BROTHER to correct or clarify her answer. To call on a sister would have been TEACHING and we cant have THAT happening.

When I disassociated in Jan 97 and started to have marital problems, I found out it was the ELDERS creating the marital problems! They had suggested to my JW husband that he treat me badly to get me to the point of leaving the home and proceeded to invite him to singles weekenders away from me (which he WENT to) and lots and lots of "get togethers". One day I had just finished washing drying and combing out the dog ( a HUGE collie mix with foot long hair) and brought him over to my husband to see. He was washing a boat we had at the time. I said "Doesnt he look great?" His response was to turn the HOSE ON THE DOG! I about croaked! Im like WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU?? And he LAUGHED. That was the last straw!I confronted him later and said "I dont know what this crap is all about you are pulling, but if you think for one nannosecond Im going to go ANYWHERE...look again. If anybody is going to leave this house its YOU. So if you want to go shack up with some little JW filly who will make you go to ALL the meetings and out in SERVICE by the way, which you DONT do now...go right the hell ahead because Ive been there and done that and dont need you or your f-ing religion to live my life." Thats when he admitted they were influencing him. Asswipes. MARRIAGE COUNSELORS?? hell no

"More about 57 years"
by breeze inthis was my response to lovesdubs, i thought it deserved a posting.... lovesdubs says: 57 years???
oh i know....thats because you also associated with them in your previous life for 20 years too :) .
so you doubt my time line!
-
LovesDubs
Breeze...you need to take a breath IN out IN out ...LOL!! I wasnt DOUBTING you were in there for 57 years dude...I was complimenting you, saying that of course YOU arent 57 years young, that perhaps you were only 37 and had lived the other 20 years in a prior life. Down boy. :)
And yes my comparison to Hitlers SS is valid. History has shown that many people who were under Hitler didnt agree with the man but knew it was a join or be killed proposition for them...and once they were in, they couldnt just decide to leave without sanctions! It is EXACTLY a parallel to the situation we face when leaving the Watch Tower Society....stay and hate it or leave and lose your family, your loved ones and your "life."
It appears you are not as on the fence as you appeared at first.
And oh yes...the JWs DO kill people. Their nonsensical medical directives and preaching methods in war torn countries, as well as their blood ban and their molestation issues kill people...their spirits, hearts, lives, families...all DEAD at the hands of the Watchtower.

Hi Kevin :) After reading your post I had to go back and do a search on your name to get a "bigger picture" of what youve been going through...lordy...you are due for a break! Since you asked us, and that was a HUGE question you asked, I thought Id stick my two pennies in there for ya.
I am now 48 years old and gave birth to my youngest at 40. I started having kids in my thirties and am glad I waited because I was ready for them later in my life. More steady. There is no reason for you to be concerned about the age thing, as long as you take care of your own health. He or she will be on their own by the time you are 60 anyway and these days 60 isnt all that old yknow? Having a surrogate whom you know isnt such a bad thing, at least you know already what his "other half" of the gene pool is like and you can be close to her during the pregnancy and enjoy the process. And a wonderful astounding thing it is! But...there's always a but...I think maybe you should give yourself a year to sort through what has happened to you this year and make sure you are over your addictions, your losses, ....maybe get a puppy for awhile until your head is ready?
Having a baby is a forever thing, and you know that...and Im sure this little one will be loved and wanted. Since he wont have a momma around per se, dad needs to be on double duty. Take some parenting classes, talk to some other surrogates, and surrogate parents and get all the legal poop outta the way. Whatever you decide...get some joy in your life and hold on tight! :)
