IF I did the right thing why do I feel so bad?
by IndependantThinker ini noticed a few minutes ago 2 sisters are on the block over from me.
i have told them over the past year to put me down on the do not call on list.
i figure it's going to ignored, so i printed out the 1981 boe british letter about child molestation and protection of elders and the amended page on that subject from the flock book (the one with the co's handwrittten notes) and stuck it in the handle of my screen door.. .

Prediction: Poorest attended DC's in recent history in 2008
by oompa inpeople in the usa are changing their eating habits already, and their driving habits of course.
there are many fairly poor jw's in this country, many with no health insurance, old clunker cars and just barely getting by.
the cost of so many things is getting ready to explode, especially consumables.....all delivered by ship, train, plane, and truck.

JWs go to conventions to:
1) Work it, looking for a mate
2) To get the hell away from work for awhile, and maybe get fired for the effort
3) To eat and party with fellow JWs they only see once a year, and lunch is the highlight of the day followed by napping during the experiences part of the program
4) To see the drama, and only the dramas where they dress out in togas...none of this modern day application shyte
5) ...get it over with
NOBODY in their right minds goes there for information unless they have NEVER been to one before.

Welcome to JWD and welcome to LIFE!! How cool is this?? I have a good friend who was a life long JW and a pioneer and in 1999 she contacted me about how I got out and eventually she left the borg...and then her parents followed her...then her sister followed her...then her sisters HUSBAND followed her and their kids... And now they are enjoying holidays and birthdays and FREEDOM!
You know what were the BEST things for me? Sleeping late on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Taking my coffee out on the porch and watching my kids play in the yard instead of stuffing them into SUITS and DRESSES and making them walk door to door selling Gawd when they should be enjoying their childhoods. I got out in 1997 and my husband stayed in but my kids were raised BORG FREE and are involved in dancing and sports and after school clubs and are ALL on the honor roll and ALL thriving and growing and experience the FULLNESS of their lives!
I wouldnt trade my decision to get out of that cult for ANYTHING! I pray my husband wakes up too...his mother left and he SHUNS her. And his sister and her husband and their five kids who are JWs all shun her. God speed the destruction of this family destroying cult!!

Mouthy if you are in Florida you may not be seeing MOUSY things...but PALMETTO BUG things! They leave droppings like mice, they eat cheese and meat and other mousy type things and can clean out a trap without springing it. Yes they can...they are incredibly strong and can brace themselves on the side of a trap and lift the bait off of it without setting it off.

If a JW girl falls pregnant to a 'worldly person'...before marriage??
by Lantana ini've had many encounters with jw's throughout the years and i've found them to be decent, caring people.
i've attending meetings, read a number of awake!
and watchtower publications and so on and so forth.. the book 'crisis of conscious' by ray franz was really eye-opening for me and served as a strong warning for those about to enter the organisation...its easy to fill in the blanks from there -- i never became a jw.

Yep....hardline elders and nonelder type JWs dont hesitate to kick out kids that dont tow the line. My mother in laws 2nd husband is an elder. His ex wife used to be her best friend in the JWs. Ex wife at age 38 decided to bed an 18 year old pioneer brother, got caught in a hotel, both were DFd. Exwife divorced Elder husband, was DFd for a year and then married said 18 year old....she had a 16 year old son mind you.
Sixteen year old son is caught smoking...he is messed up because of the crap his parents have put him through. Their reply to this? He is disfellowshipped for smoking and soundly kicked out of his home for being rebellious!!!
This organization sucks. Its arbitrary and a cult.

What big changes made by the Borg bothered you when you were in?
by LovesDubs ini came in in 1984. at that time they were beating it into us not to have kids or go to college because the end was soooo near and the generation that saw 1918 was about all dead and we couldnt go much further.
they were touting the whole peace and security cry and then there was the peace and security convention in like 1985 that had us all abuzz after which of course nothing happened.
then they went and changed the definition of the generation in 1994 saying of course since armageddon didnt come after the 80 years had gone by that defined the old one that they basically had to go to plan b...or plan m by now, and that the generation was now everybody since 1918 who has or will live during the time of the end ad infinitum!!!

The year text for 1974 pissed me off. I kicked the Kingdom Hall door on the way out.
Gary what did this say? Or was it the fact that they said the world was ending in 75 so why the hell did they NEED a year text? LOL!

Could This Be The Watchtower's Endgame?
by metatron insuppose you had a business that didn't make money.
you would try to make the thing more efficient and probably lay off.
some workers to cut costs.

Since they dont make any money on the publications, then producing the publications, housing the equipment to print, buying the products to make the magazines and the gas and trucking prices associated with all of that....HAS to be a huge negative impact on their income. Put on top of that the maintenance, and property taxes of ALL the property they own... (have they moved entirely to the Farm yet in upstate New York?) and then the food and housing for their FREE work force...and the cost of their nonincome producing overseers and bethelites WORLDWIDE...and the upkeep of the kingdom halls all around the world...
Its mind boggling the costs they must be incurring.
I think more and more things are going to become CONSCIENCE MATTERS to gradually remove the onus from the Society to determine people's futures. I think they will hang onto the shunning and the blood issues to the end and will go down with the ship on those. I think the lawyers are running the show and the GB are nothing more than the Royal Family is to England these days. There for affect.
I think they have stopped writing "interpretations" of the Bible books and wont produce any more books for a "book study". I think they will start using the old Book Study now Bible Study time to start working through the bible a chapter at a time. And putting their slant on it and moving on. Read it at the meeting, have a brother give a short talk on the MEANING of said scripture, ask a couple questions to make sure the flock gets it...done. 25 minutes.
I think they will stop having all these Special Assemblies and Circuit Assemblies every couple of months and maybe have ONE a year in the six months opposit the District Assembly for the purpose of baptizing people becauase they are getting prohibitively expensive to hold...what with having to rent meeting places, or build assembly halls and then maintain those and what with people NOT contributing on a regular basis...thats all coming out of pocket to each district.
I think the Society is in a slow motion plummet...as have many many many offshoot religions have done. And its happening now and they will be gone by the end of 10 years.

What was your saddest day as a JW?
by jambon1 ini had many days like this but i will never forget the time that a 'prominent elder' publicaly declared that he wants to see the worldly people die at armaggeddon.
"i hope that i can look out the window & watch it all happening".
i went home and thought; 'wtf am i a part of here'?

In 1996 I was still a JW and had just secretly read Crisis of Conscience. I had many questions and thought who better to answer those questions than the couple, the PO and his pioneer wife that I had studied with, lived with and who had been my wedding talk conductor and maid of honor that I had known for 13 years? I had carefully documented my questions and when their efforts to answer my questions were thwarted time and time again they resorted to defaming Ray Franz rather than answering his accusations, then they turned on ME! That I was reading apostate material, that I was "always a bad witnesss and never wanted to be a witness and that I had gone out in service and never believed in any of it...that I never changed over my worldly personality, that I was hard headed and never listened to reason, that I didnt REALLY believe in Jehovah..."
God almighty it just poured out of them!! I understand that I upset them, but it was NOT dealt with with love it was dealt with by attacking ME and my MOTIVES and my 13 years as a LOYAL witness! It made me wonder if they were faking their love for me all those years and that it was conditional on me ALWAYS just going along and never questioning ANYTHING.
I went home and wept and wept and wept from that day. It was months until I disassociated but my relationship with them ended that day. And before that I had named my KIDS after them.

If The Society REALLY Cared About Gas Prices They'd Implement Program Now!
by minimus inthey are full of sh*t!
if i were a practicing jehovah's witness, i'd seriously take the governing body's words to heart immediately.
since they don't want to add any further burdens on us, i would not "wait on jehovah (them)" but instead i'd follow the spirit of their timely words and cut out one more meeting night and save gas money!

OMG Minimum I was posting that EXACT SAME THOUGHT but it wouldnt let me because I was over limit!
Yes!! Eliminate FIELD SERVICE!! I say do something PROACTIVE if they are so concerned! How about giving the pioneers their own Borg-designed web sites and blogs to use? How about giving them cell phones from a cheap program through their halls? How about providing BUSES to and from assemblies so families can share the costs? How about giving people on fixed incomes and who have hardship to listen to the meetings from HOME so they dont have to commute at ALL?
What about simulcasting? What about having LESS assemblies???

Well...as toys go, I was an adult at age 30 when I came into the borg. But I was "dating" a JW guy who wasnt supposed to be seeing me and he made a point of telling me my BOWLING TROPHIES had to go if I was going to please Jehovah! He said they represented VANITY and an attachment to worldly material things and were BOASTFUL and I should get rid of them. And damned if I didnt DO it! I guess they seemed phallic to him or something LOL! I had one that I won that was an ALL CONFERENCE CHAMPION trophy that was no lie over 3 feet tall. But it was a "bone" of centention for this obviously very holy person who was so very much closer to God than I was...sitting there as he was, naked on the edge of my bed. So I obeyed.
He also said that my TAN and my colored HAIR were vanity and had to go....that I could no longer wear anything from my closet that had sphaghetti straps, heels higher than two inches or showed any tightness or cleavage. However I was wearing sprayed on jeans, four inch heels, a clingy top over my tanned body with my blonde 80s "hair up to JESUS!" do when he picked me up at that club. :-)
