ok, so this morning i get a call from my aunt (active jw), in a panic.
she's telling me about what happened to her this weekend.
apparently my scumbag of an uncle (non-jw, he faded) came home drunk, and pushing her around, raising cane, and apparently hit her a few times.
She needs to get away from him..and NOW. That piece of paper that RO...will not keep him away from her if he gets drunk and decides he is above the law.
Having BEEN in her shoes in the last two years...she needs to surround herself with trustable family like you and get that divorce finalized. And DOCUMENT EVERY COMMENT EVERY THREAT EVERY PHONE CALL EVERY TIME SHE SEES HIM from NOW ON. Im DEAD serious.

for those who came in later in life - regardless of how many times from the podium you were instructed not to "leave the love you had at first" many of you are here because you found out the "truth about the truth" whether it was the people or doctrine or combination ... and were willing to open your mind, realize the "truth about the truth" and leave.

My mother in law was a JW for decades and tried to raise her 6 kids in it...two of them got baptized one my husband, and her Downs Syndrome daughter was baptized a couple of years ago even though she didnt answer ANY questions correctly but "hey what else does she have to look forward to in this system?" so they baptized her. And then her mother disassociated. in 99. My MIL was out until 2002. I was having a total hysterectomy and she came to help me out and while here we were looking at albums on my bed of my wedding and her wedding and showers and such....all of the pictures with JWs in them. She ran crying hysterically from the room!! Shortly after returning home she "went back" and ate crow for a solid year before they would reinstate her. And she was never treated the same again...and she never THOUGHT the same way again. She told me she "thought she could convince herself it was the truth if she tried hard enough" but her leaving was because she learned from personal Bible study that it WASNT the truth and she couldnt betray her conscience or God and pretend at the hall day in and day out even though getting reinstated brought her JW children back to her and her Elder husband back to her..and the "friends" back to her. There was always a wall there. So she disassociated again in 06 and remains so. She said..."you cannot go back".
I for my part was a Methodist until age 30 and was baptized a JW in 85 thinking it was the end all and was the social answer to my lonliness as a twice divorced unhappy woman...but the people in that hall were not living up to the hype they were jamming down peoples necks at the door including the JW I met FIRST who picked me up in a bar and slept with me that night and many others after that (not that Im proud of that but I was lonely and he KNEW he shouldnt be there but that didnt stop him) I NEVER have regretted getting out after 13 years in and saving my children from that cult! Its a joke that this religion has ANY truth in it...and the moral fiber of the sheep is a joke.
I was at a concert hall the other night where my sons hand bell choir was performing and he was SO proud and I was SO proud watching him and I knew that he would NOT have been able to do that had I remained a JW. My kids are in any sports they wanted to try, and dance and band, and handbells and engineering club and Honor Society and all of them are honor roll students and gifted and loving kids...and to think I might have stifled them into 5 boring meetings a week and a constant barage of NO! And you CANT! And FORGET IT! and you ARENT GOING TO COLLEGE! And you CANT GO TO THAT CHURCH! or see that movie! or listen to that music! or SAY THAT PHRASE! or or or ....thank GOD IM OUT!!!
As for being a JW saving me from marrying badly again...my JW husband is a (now recovering after 19 years of abuse) alcoholic and ignored his kids and his wife and hung out in bars and did nothing but yell at us every single day when he got home...and boy oh boy he was just Brother Wonderful and Neighbor Helpful to everybody else out there. So is being a JW going to be the "right thing" for your kids to grow up with morals and values? Hell no! You teach them YOUR values and then let them follow their own spiritual journey.

we were watching dancing with the stars and def leppard came on as the musical guest and played "pour some sugar on me" (one of my personal favs), my mother asked if i thought my pastor would approve and i shot back what would he have to with it.
she said well because of the words in the song.
They took down your CROSS??? How old are you again? Did they check to make sure you are wearing tighty whiteys and not thongs too? Did they make sure your car has four doors and not two? Did they make sure your shoes are low and suitable for field service and your watchtower is properly highlighted and underlined?
Oh man.... a few years ago my husband took all of his JW books off the shelf in the living room book case and stacked them all over our bedroom. When I asked what the hell he was doing he said "your apostate books are all over those shelves and I dont want the DEMONS getting into my literature!!"
After I stood there for awhile in stunned silence...I said..."Do you think my Demons are that STUPID that they cant find your books in here on the floor ?" I had to leave the room after that...I didnt even want to hear if he replied it was so stupid LOL!!

they have taken to writing to me, sending me stuff in the mail.
What is it about JWs that they think they can do whatever the F they want to do and say whatever they WANT to say and send whatever and go wherever????? WHAT IS THAT?? Just because I belong to Sams Club doesnt give the other members of Sams Club the right to HARRASS me about my shopping habits or write to me because I havent BEEN there for a long time or that maybe Ive decided to shop at COSCO instead!! WHAT THE F???

Prayer is like meditation...it serves the purpose of making the one doing it feel better but does absolutely nothing for anybody else. Prayers that are "answered" are things that would have happened anyway. Prayers that are not answered are "Gods will" too so that pretty much covers it. I hate to be jaded about such things but Ive seen way too much suffering and way too much destruction and death to believe there is a God who answers prayers or babies wouldnt be dying of brain cancer, we wouldnt be in Iraq killing and being killed, we wouldnt have millions of people starving and dying and with AIDS....what did those people do to deserve that? Nothing but being born in the wrong place. And what about New Orleans? What about Haiti? nope...no God answering THEIR prayers.

if the "truth" keeps changing shouldn't they call it "in search of the truth"?
an orange is always an orange, and apple always an apple they do not change.
so how is it "truth" can change?
Every religion calls their beliefs "The Truth" otherwise we would all believe the same thing and there would be no differences or wars over it.
But then somebody gets an attitude and MY truth is better than YOUR truth starts....and wham somebody's driving a plane into a skyscraper and yelling "Kill the infidels!!"
So it becomes a happy buzz word that the witnesses in particular love love LOVE to toss around like its a badge of honor and you DONT want to be OUTSIDE that INNER CIRCLE of people who are "in the truth" or the guilt sets in.

people in the usa are changing their eating habits already, and their driving habits of course.
there are many fairly poor jw's in this country, many with no health insurance, old clunker cars and just barely getting by.
the cost of so many things is getting ready to explode, especially consumables.....all delivered by ship, train, plane, and truck.

i have been fading for years now.
i give less and less a shit about what the jw's want or say or do.
i love my family and since my wife is still in although also inactive her rabid family is making the fade tough since i love and respect her dad.
Just a side bar to what was just said.....I doubt after telling the JWs that because of gas prices they are eliminating a meeting night that they would turn around and mandate that people go out in field service which would TOTALLY reverse the whole concern they just expressed about rising GAS prices being a burden. Book studies were usually closer to the house, you get there you stay you drive home. You dont drive to a field service arrangement, then drive to the territory, the drive up and down the streets doing returns or door to door and then home again and expect to SAVE on gas doing that.
