What will you do?
by Defianttruth ini've been thinking, "what if it does fail and there is a mass exodus?".
i have been wronged and damaged greatly by these ones.
every one needs to handle this situation in his or her own way, but as for me if it does happen, i will meet them with open arms.

Money, Money, Money...and Money, Money, Money
by The Rebel ini made a post of this, but feel it warrants a thread.
in central london ( paddington) the " property management company" we refer to as jehovers witnesses, bought a church building, which is now a kingdom hall, but with the outside appearance of a church.. i got an explanation from bethel " it's just a building".
well let's give the organisation credit for its business sence.

But there are two bedroom flats in the area for £2m £3.7m, so money to be made if permission was there. -

Don't be silly , there is no way you would get 50 flats on that site, 15 maximum, also the building is listed so pretty much can't be changed and also you wouldn't get consent for change of use from the local authority , and such a development would be strongly objected against by locals , and you would have to rehouse the 5 congregations or groups that use the hall, which means developing an equally expensive site.... Move along nothing to see here, -

Wt contradiction
by poopie in7/15/2010 wt says"in more recent times opposers of true worship similarly used the threat of isolation in an effort to put fear in the hearts of true christians.

Freedom of Information - Australia
by kramer inthe evidence exhibits in the royal commission comprise in parts of things like the branch manual.
in australia, would these now be matters of public record?
if so is it possible to get hold of them?

What is their official explanation for not allowing beards?
by keyser soze ini ask because my gf, who knows all about my jw upbringing, convinced me to grow a goatee, just to see how it looks.
we both decided it looked good so i decided to keep it.
i tried to explain to her that as a jw, i wasn't allowed to grow one, but then drew a blank when she asked me why.

Why is the Governing Body pushing the very young(5-12 year old) into getting baptized into subservience to the Corporation?
by Brokeback Watchtower ini think a very simple reason may be because the very young are pretty much the only ones naive enough to take the plunge these days.
with the internet available to inform people about the deceptive lies printed by the wt corporation it seems that they are getting their member from the less informed population like the elderly and the very young.
they/gb hate higher education because they loose members who get one and so they are focusing on those that are dumb enough to believe their boogie man bull shit about jehovah choosing their corporation and anybody not a part of it he will destroyed at armageddon.. also we need to consider that they view these young people as a potential free labor source so the sooner you get them hooked into baptism with the threat of disfellowshipping you can get more free labor out of them..

?? they aren't - unless you have any references to back this up, encouraging 5 year olds to get baptised? , do you have anything stronger than anecdote? -

with due respect @cappytan, is it really a straw man argument? for example the Director Jean-Luc Goddard (or even the Star Trek character Jean-Luc Picard!) has a french name, we call him Jean-Luc Goddard even though we speak English, we don't translate a non-english name into English when we refer to him and call him John-Luke. By the same reasoning as Gods name was revealed in Hebrew, shouldn't that be the creator's name we eho read the Bible should use? YHWH/Yahweh? But really,
I dont think he is too hung up on it as according to scripture he didn't reveal it too often, called himself many things and allowed its true pronunciation to be lost. Also his son never referred to him by name - in a similar way that I never address my dad by his name - which would be a little weird
