@thewonderofyou - yes, and that's a model I would advocate to supplement the charity resources that are needed, with surplus profits being reinvested for the furtherance of the social objectives (in the UK 50% of distributable surpluses can be paid out in profits for private gain, so maybe the model doesn't fit exactly) . Trading profit on property in prime locations in NYC, or tertiary areas of London can fund charitable objectives in other parts of the world, then that great.

Transfer of Bank Balances and Kingdom Halls.
by kramer intwo things related to ongoing comments regarding forgiving of loans / transfer of balances to the wtbs and the ownership of kingdom halls.
firstly, i would argue that congregations don't care that bank balances have been transferred to the society.
i would contend that people contribute to the preaching work, and that's it , so long as there is enough in the bank to maintain the hall with a reasonable reserve, then i doubt many would argue against it.

The Old Testament precedent is tithing, for some strange reason, the org have decided not to point this out. All of the posts above do nothing to knock the simple option of being able to donate by plastic cards, what is the problem with that?

Chelmsford is an Asbestos Dump
by Slidin Fast inthe dubsters in the uk are being taken for such a ride.. on one side they have prime land and property to sell in north london worth many millions of uk pounds.. on the other they have bought a contaminated site used for years of illegal dumping.
one of the main contaminants is asbestos.
it will take volunteer labour months simply to remove the toxic material.

OP: You make yourself look silly writing stuff like that, if someone tells you that it's just not true. -

cleaning at bethel

how does one set of volunteers , from congregations, rather than another set of volunteers, from the branch, cleaning, show that the org is crumbling and running out of money? -

Cue to leave
by Grey Goose injust reading a thread about one circuit saying the pubs must donate $10.. it got me thinking, that if it ever became policy to donate a % of ones income, that would be my cue to leave.
or i would kick up such a stink about it i would be kicked out.
either would be good for me.. so, is there any public policy changes which would be your cue to leave?.

Tithing is one thing that has not been introduced, for which there is a clear biblical precedent

Exactly where is the expansion?
by NeverKnew inthere is a thread that i'm really enjoying discussing the consolidation of congregations into existing kingdom halls.
i'm realizing that the only threads that have spoken of building were related to branch offices.
we know the wts's consolidations and reopening a are a shell game of sorts but i'm wondering... is anyone seeing an increase in kingdom halls in their part of the world?
