I ran to the store to get some food tonight and when I was pulling back into the garage I noticed something in my front door. It was a memorial invitation. They must have come today but I never heard the door and I was up and home all day.

by mrsjones5 inby a pretty jw lady to the memorial.
hubby got the door but waited for me to come to the door (he was on the phone).
i listened to her introduction and held the memorial tract, then i handed it back and said quite firmly that i was not interested.

May 15th WT - Wives Should be Obedient, Submissive & Not Disagree
by flipper inonce again we received the may 15th " witness only " wt from our lurking jw friend.
even though i've been out for over 7 years and haven't attended in that long - i never cease to be amazed at the arrogance of this patriarchal man pleasing wt society in it's dismissive attitude towards women .
it's horrible.

This was one of the major issues I had with the doctrine. There are plenty of smart, educated women that are much more capable than the average man. I know, I work with some incredibly sharp female engineers. I know of one married couple where the wife is a degreed engineer at my company and the husband has a high school diploma and spent some time at Bethel. He moved to my area and got a job as an appliance installer. After they got married some suggested she quit her job because she made significantly more than him and it could make him feel like he wasn't head of the house. So the one with the $75k+ a year job with paid vacation, sick leave, and full medical benefits for the family should quit so the one making $10/hr with no benefits feels better about himself?
They need to do away with the rampant sexism and treating women like they are less beings. It's unacceptable and repulsive in this day and age.

My parents weren't real proud of the tattoos, eyebrow piercing, nipple piercing, tongue piercing, and gauging of my ears I did when I was 18. But then I also got an Associates in Electronics and a pretty good job at 21, and then got my Bachelors in Business (and currently finishing Bachelors in CIS and debating a Masters or JD). I think what really upset them was that my sister followed in my footsteps and got her hip, foot, and entire back done. And she married a guy with a full sleeve. But she also has an Associates in Graphic Design, a Bachelors in Economics, her JD, and is a practicing attorney at 28.
My parents learned to accept, but they are Catholic and Buddhist. I'd probably have a different outlook if we were raised JW. So how did the sandpaper feel?

Ask and ye shall receive.
My best advice to finding a good artist is to ask around. If you see someone with tattoos you like, or at least an artist's style you like, ask them what shop they went to and who did the work. Talk with artists and get a feel for their personality. You want someone who will draw up what you want and take the time to do it right, not what is quick and easy for them. Look through the portfolios artists put out. I know some very good artists, but their style isn't for me. The shop should be clean: gloves when tattooing with a change if they take a break to drink, smoke, go to the bathroom, answer the phone, etc.; new needles for each customer; putting the ink in little disposable cups or trays instead of sticking the needle in the big bottle. Most shops seem to be pretty good about hygiene, the fear of AIDS and other diseases has led to a big focus on health in the tattoo industry.
Depending on how much work you get done, you may need to break up your design into sessions. I did the koi in one sitting, but am putting off the background for about a month. They are not maintenance free, especially at first. You need to constantly put lotion on them for a couple of weeks (I use Neosporin creme for the first two or three days then fragrance-free Lubriderm for two weeks). If you don't use sunblock now, you need to afterwards or they will fade. Alcohol beforehand might seem like a good idea to help dull the pain but it will make you bleed excessively and the won't let the ink set properly and you will have to get it redone. Alcohol afterwards is always a good thing.
As far as pain it ranges from mild annoyance to fairly sharp pain depending on the sensitivity of the area of the body. As soon as the needle is removed the pain stops. You can always ask the artist to take a break if you need one. There isn't really any pain afterwards. To me it feels like a mild sunburn for a few days. Wear loose fitting clothes that you don't care if you need to throw out as you will bleed.
If you happen to be in Las Vegas or Phoenix I can direct you to some shops. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

When going in Street work who left mags at laundry mats?
by foolsparadise inwe would go to laundry mats and leave magazines for people to read and actually count them as placements.
the funny thing is there would already be watchtowers in the laundry mat so we would just take them and leave ours and still count them.

Trying a different browser since both times my post didn't post. If it doesn't work this time then I give up.
We would go to laundromats in early morning informal witnessing. If there was anyone there, we would try to talk to them first. Then we would just leave the maganizes on the tables and count each one we left. Easy way to get rid of the collection of leftover magazines everyone would build up.

Welcome, you're slightly younger than I was when I woke up. You have lots of life left.
