  Counselled on chatting to a study!

  hey all, i'm new to posting, but i've lurked for a while.

  quick intro: i'm a 25 yr old guy, brought up a jw, strayed for a while, then got baptized convinced it was the best thing for me, the rest of the world is satanic, etc.

  i overcame that ridiculous belief and i know the truth about "the truth" but my friends and family are all deep into the cult so leaving is a huge risk that i'm not willing or ready to take.

  It's stumbling because the other person is a thin-skinned, weak-spirited person. Perhaps the other person is jealous. I never understood the whole stumbling aspect. Seeing the actions of others, then doing research that confirms your thoughts of those actions is one thing. But just seeing someone do something (talk to a girl, drink too much, etc) on its own should not stumble someone. I think the elders just need to tell the person to grow up.

  The worst that could happen is you and her really hit it off, she stops studying, you pursue her and if anything does happen get DF'd. If she does get baptized there is no guarantee that you two would be together. I would tell her to run away, but that could have bad consequences for you. It's a judgement call only you can make.

  Sucks to be a mid-20s+ single brother in the org. Decent eligible females in that age group are few and far between.

  justifying people willing dying over the blood tranfusion issue is the same as osama justifying killing anyone who did not agree with his religious beliefs?

  I know quite a few who did as soon as they finished the Bible Teach and Worship God books

  I got dunked after just the Bible Teach book and it was less than 6 months after my first study. No one was DA'd/DF'd while I was studying and the policy was a surprise when I found out about it. So were many other things that I didn't learn until after baptism.

  Jewelry advice

  as every married man knows (or should know) anniversaries where the number ends in either zero or five are more special and important than all the others.

  your 20th is somehow more special than the 19th) anyhow, i've got one of those "magic number" anniversaries coming up and am thinking about jewelry.

  any advice for getting the most bang for your buck?

  The advice to buy used is good. When my fiance took off I tried to sell the ring and the best offer was far below what I had paid. Jewelry pops up frequently on craigslist. If the seller is really interested in selling it they will let you get an independent appraisal. You can have the metal melted down and remade into a new piece and just reuse the stone.

  This is good news for people in general in cases where there is a shortage of blood available. What I don't understand is if JWs can't accept plasma, how can they accept things derived from animal plasma?

  Reading the comments on the YouTube page you can pretty clearly see which commenters are JWs and which aren't. I'm glad to see that almost all of the commenters that aren't JWs still think this guy was inappropriate.

  "It's not the job of a woman to tell a man anything." What a piece of work. Even the JWs have more respect for woman than that guy. I'm surprised the JWs hung around as long as they did. It's fine to have religious discussions or debates but you don't have to be a prick about it. Non-JW Christian fanatics like him scare/annoy/anger me as much as the JWs ever did.

  I tried to be very calm and mellow when I was in. But if some guy followed me, kept running his mouth, pointing at me and sticking his finger in my face I very well might have lost my temper.
