Not really. I never stopped drinking when I came into the org but I did cut back. Now I don't care and if I have a few too many I just call a cab. I smoke cigars on occassion again. I had ink before and have gotten some more since leaving. I watch R-rated movies and listen to punk and metal again. I don't break any laws other than minor traffic ones (slight speeding), I don't get into fights, and I get along with my neighbors and coworkers. In the eyes of most people I'm a decent person, in the eyes of the JWs I'm evil.

Emma Stone is cute. She was good in Superbad but I really liked her in Zombieland. Everyone was great in Zombieland, especially Bill Murray.

Pregnant Jehovah Witness in bikini protest

but wtf?
how nuts is this?.

Bikinis aren't modest and a witch's hat is spiritism. Sounds like a crappy JW to me.

2 months dating and
by Dudu ini would like to buy him a gift for the 2 months.... nothing cheese or that would mean toooooo much, .... im lost lol some advice?
?.

Just take him out somewhere or buy something not too expensive. If he's a gamer, buy him a game. Tickets to a concert or sporting event or a movie. Treat him to dinner. Buy him a bottle of liquor. Don't make a big deal out of two months or he might think you are too clingy.

Remote Viewing-has anyone heard of this or tried this?
by PaintedToeNail ini read an article on this 5 years ago or so and came upon this topic again in reviewing a book on amazon.
it entails what i think was called 'quantum entanglement', and supposedly used by the cia & the military.
it sounds fascinating to me..

i liked her and the intensity she brought to her music..

I'm tired of hearing about celebrities self destructing. It's true that money does not bring happiness and that the very rich can be depressed. But they also have the resources to get the best treatments from the best doctors. Sure they may have to change their lifestyle and their friends, but so does the middle class worker who gets addicted to something. And unlike the rich most people cannot finacially afford to pay either the high costs of the best rehab centers or to take months off of work to completely focus on kicking their addiction.
There's is hope though. Not sure if Robert Downey, Jr., is completely sober but he's not the mess he was years ago. Winehouse had opportunities to change, chose not to, and had to suffer the consequences.

Cougars, Reptiles and Bears. Oh My! Question for Hikers, Outdoor Enthusiasts and Hunters
by Robdar inprofessor and i are going to the smokey mountains next week for white water rafting and hiking.
although i adore animals, i am a little nervous about the wild life i might encounter while on the hiking trails.
in particular i am worried about bears, cougars and snakes.
-

I always carry a handgun when I'm in the desert or in the woods. I would not attempt to use it on a bear. As mentioned a hiking stick is good to have. You can use it to poke into areas and you can swing it if you have to. Making noise is good. Most animals just want us to leave them alone and will go out of their way to avoid us if they know we are there.
Regarding the handgun and the bear, really your best chance would be to shoot your partner so you can outrun him. Remember, you don't have to outrun the bear, just someone else.

The Economics Thread
by sabastious injim has a job stacking boxes for a courier company.
frank has his own business selling lumber.
jim has a house project so he needs some lumber.
-
WhatWasIThinking
While he may have lost $50 on the project itself it doesn't mean it didn't add $50 or more in value. It didn't add value to the house. Let's say he built a little bar and entertaining area in his backyard. If he has guests over twice a month and makes it BYOB and that keeps him from going to the bar twice a month for entertainment he will quickly recoup the $50, possibly the first time he has people over.
Something also does not have to provide monetary value to have value to the person. A lot of things people buy add no value. Just about anything you buy new loses value as soon as you take it out of the box. No one needs a 42" TV. Everyone could get by with a 21" TV or no TV at all. All we need to survive is food, clothing, and shelter. Everything else we have is a luxury. Jim obviously felt that whatever he was building was worth at least $150 plus his labor to build it so to him it has value.
Frank will use that $50 leftover after paying for the lumber from the supplier to pay his business expenses such as rent, utilities, payroll, taxes, and his own paycheck.
I don't see capitalism as the problem. I see huge corporations (auto manufacturers, banks, etc) that don't have to deal with the consequences of their poor actions as a problem. I also see the lack of self-control over spending as a problem. I don't mean just the government and the banks, but also most of our citizens. Most everyone lives in massive debt and buys many things they cannot afford due to the easy availability of credit.

WT books thrown into the dumpster...
by NVR2L8 infor the last few weeks i have been pretty busy as we were moving to a new house.
my wife did most of the packing but when it came to the move, i realized that there are things we own that we had forgotten about because we haven't used them for years!
on top of the list was old wt publications that no longer contain the "truth" and publications available on the wt cd.

After I DA'd I threw all of the magazines, tracts, books, and notes I had in the recycling bin. I also tossed the library CDs, DVDs, and DVD liners. I did keep the blank, empty DVD cases.

Lightweight clothing that wicks moisture off the skin (think Under Armor, Nike Dry-Fit, etc). Take a rag, dip it in ice water, wring it out, and wrap it around your neck. Put a block of ice in a tub (to contain the water when it melts) and put it in front of a fan. I'm not sure where you are or how humid it is but you could also get a small swamp cooler designed for a garage and just fill the water tray manually.
If you're sweating a lot drink some Gatorade, Powerade, etc. or eat some salty snacks. If you replace the salt you're losing you'll feel better.
