  After three tats and ears pierced?? Lots! I registered to vote ( Bush was my first). I feel I have total control of my life and what I decide to do with it! No longer forced to associate with people, simply cause we were under same mind controling beliefs. now it makes me nauseus to here dubs talk about their "crap". It would be like dog returning to vomit if I were to go back!! " I feel so alive for the very first time" POD

  Witnesses Are Great Folks

  i know i'll get a lot of flack from this,but witnesses are good folks.and your average witness is concerned about you,non-witness.i've been there and i almost became one.my ex did become one.

  it's not what they are taught by the watchtower,it's how one is taught.if one was what a witness was taught there wouldn't be any witnesses.it's how one is taught.most of the witnesses always told me,if you have any questions there's a book by the society that will answer your question.

  (s)the watchtower is persistent.well so was i.the more books i read that the watchtower wrote,the more questions i had.and i,always,made sure i stayed on the topic.they never did.they always avoided my questions.and they are real good at that.

  Puffsrule, great points! They only care for their own, oops unless there is a photo op or something they can boast about in the magazines. I remember when I was young asking my dad if it was okay for wetnoses to give to charity? He said it would be better to put more time in service cause that was our way to show our love for mankind. I can see it now, some poor woman trying to feed her children saying "mmm mm thank goodness for the door knockers!!"

  i remember back to when i was part of the borg... .

  i noticed how all the rich witnesses got away with everything.

  i knew of a teen who was dating (and having sex with) this non-believer and nothing even happened to him.

  Now that it is appropriate for witness' to go to college, we have a new breed of wealthy brothers! I know in my old congregation we have an engineer, a doctor, a lawyer and all were sons of elders! You should hear how my mom admires them. When I was growing up, college was not even discussed. More than ever you can see class distinction in borg. Don't piss on my head and tell me it's raining!

  were you ashamed of being a witness?.

  how did you feel about identifing yourself as a jehovahs witness to others?.

  i often used to hide it because of the stigma attacthed to it.. was anyone actually proud to be one?

  Having been born into it, you were always expected to stand up as a JW. Even in the latest info, it tries to make the young ones feel guilty if they don't. I remember the fear of Saturday morning " Please, I hope I do not run into anyone from school!" ........It is fine if adults want to be in a self- glorifying religion that says, " Look at me, I am not you and I am above you" but to make their children have to live by the same docterine?? Children have a hard enough time being accepted without this BS. I can only say that, I was ashamed and I know there are so many still living this hell!! My heart goes out to them...

  Notes Taken at the Judical Committee Meeting

  i used to spend quite a bit of time during my teenage years in what was affectionately called "the green room".

  the elders couldn't wait to take out a pen and paper and take pages upon pages of notes while i spoke and my poor parents sat and squirmed.

  i wasn't a bad kid, it was always about stupid things, like sister-so-and-so said i wore a short skirt to school, etc.

  Your Volunteer Work?

  well, some here think that all we do is sit around a post naughty pics and do no charitable or volunteer work.

  i thought we could see who does what for their respective communities.

  valis= free computer support dallas shakespeare festival + on the wing again bird sanctuary/rescue, photopgraphic web hosting services for the bob marley festival of dallas, am about to start w/the down's syndrome guild of dallas doing web support and event work/soliciting charitable donations from companies, and my teaching that means working many hours unpaid to help my students personally/educationally.

  To me it soundslike when the pioneers used to brag about the "hours" they would put in above the rest of us. The way talks were given trying to make us feel guilty if we were not putting all the time we could into service. Well, now I look back and realize how I wasted at least 5 hours a week at the meetings and an additional 15 a month in service..It's my time..NOW

  man kills wife over world cup viewing.

  a thai man has killed his wife after the two quarreled over the tv remote control during a world cup match.. chartkaew yam-uarn, 18, was shot by her husband, arrested as he tried to flee the scene, said police captain jittikul kaewklangmuang.. yai, a 20-year-old motorcycle taxi driver, confessed to the shooting but claimed it was an accident, jittikul said.. the suspect said the fight started thursday when his wife kept nagging him about his laziness since world cup tournament began two week ago.. she then snatched a remote control from him and switched to a soap opera in middle of the game between mexico and italy.. after failing to grab the gadget, yai slapped her in the face.

  is it just me, or is alchohol consumption at parties and vacations virtually an unwrittten rule of jw-culture?.

  when i was in, i did not drink, and i still don't.

  i often felt almost ostracized for this by my jw associates.

  I am sorry, but as a witness, my ex-wife and I had many friends and we all drank. I remember many of times getting up for service still under the influence. I guess we excused it for not being able to smoke pot..lol
