There have always been ups and downs and the hire & fire mentality has always been used.

as a disclaimer, i am an ex-jw (da'd) for about 15+ years, so i really haven't kept up on what's going on in bethel (come to think of it i wasn't really interested in it when i was a jw!
recently, however, one of my relatives (current jw) commented that, although my nephew had applied to bethel (oh what a privilege!
), he was basically told he wasn't needed at this time because they aren't "mailing out the publications" there like they used to.

oh man....check this out.. my brother, an active jw, whom i am very close too, called me sometime last year to tell me about the un issue.
i never cared to talk about religion .... most of my family is in and i'm not.
so i boringly reply,'oh yeah'..not really listening.
I'm sure it won't take too long before you're talking again. If her husband continues to make research as he did. Anyway the number of lurkers keeps on increasing.

i'm curious to see if anyone here has any major anxiety disorders and how it affects their lives.
as a semi-confession, i think i may have something of this sort, but i'd like a comparison first.
being a male, i never go to the doctors unless my leg is falling off, so i don't just want to go to a doctor to medicate a problem that could be overcome in other ways.
Elders meetings are among the most stressful moments of my life.

i have been coming here as a lurker for some time and occasionally posting.
i was first drawn by posts from alanf and farkel who i suspect are in my age bracket and from my era in the wts.
i look forward to bill bowen's posts because i have a personal interest in combating the abuse of children in any form or group.

today i was out in service, met sveral nice peopel who like to here about god news from the bibel,i was reding from luk 21, and showing them what will happend, and that jehova can solve our problems.i think here in matrealistik sweden we have a bigg los of spirutal sings, evrything here is about money, and young peopel dont like this so much, they want a new order, some have gone to this proclaim the streets movment, it is a anarkistic movment.. so i must say the messege from bibel is radher the same, a bigg dissaster, and then a new order.. but i dont think as the gov body that only jw are saved,i am more i touch widh rutherfords talk, million who now live will never die.. never forget that the bibel say, we are not judges,it is jesus who have this power, think gb has forgett this thing.. greatings from the north.
Miljoner som nu lever skall d. Med syn pa detta kan vi bra predikar, fr hoppet blir den samma.
Det viktigaste r at gr a Jehovas vilja, nu och efter uppstandelsen.

the all knowing watchtower geezers claim christ is not the mediator for mostly all jws: .
jesus christ, is not the mediator between jehovah god and all mankind.. he is the mediator between his heavenly father, jehovah god, and the nation of spiritual israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members.
(worldwide security 1986, p10 par 1 the desire for peace and security worldwide).
He's the mediator between Jehovah and the Onehundredandfortyfourthousand spiritanointed kingpriests, the so called New Covenant.
Didn't you know, Fred?

(the title of this thread is: love for wbts would not withstand "divination"!
for some reason it did not show up the way i typed it in) .
most publishers would stick with the society through almost anything: .
You're right, IW, one can put up with imperfections, but not with outright apostasy.

i wonder how many jws r aware that candles have pagan origins as admitted by bishop newman(sp?
) in the 19th century?
should a faithfull jw have anything to do with candles therefore?
is all of this discussion only because a candlemaker regularly posts on this board?

does anybody here have a clue why the society did not simply publish a revised edition of united in worship of the only true god, but changed the title to worship the only true god?
is unity no more considered as important?
if a change of title seemed necessary, why not call it "united in worship"?.

Or is this really a change in attitude, which became evident in WTs-literature over the last decade that personal responsibility is more and more stressed, being guided by principles instead of hard and fast rules?
Has any body already had any looks into the changes made in the new book?
