  this question has been bugging me for a while now .

  since the last thread on the biblical flood.. it's like this .

  .. immediately prior to the flood, jehovah had deemed the earth full of badness, totally wicked and "ruined" .

  I would offer that the "official" explanation would be that sufficient time had not elapsed to satisfy the challenge that mankind was not able to govern on their own (without God's input).

  Yeah, except none of that BS is actually in the bible. I mean, a book that huge and God couldn't manage to sum up in like, one chapter?

  How, then, can we not know if parts of the bible (OT, NT) in which God and Jesus display good qualities have been tampered with?

  We know for a fact that all parts of the bible as it exists today HAVE been tampered with. Repeatedly and often.

  I like metal and *some* rap/hip hop. But then, I also love Tom Waits.

  I like Sabbath, the big 4, Disturbed, Slipknot, Black Label Society, Sepultura, Pantera, Monster Magnet, etc. I also like Beastie Boys, NWA, Eminem, Sir Mixalot. It's possible.

  when you claim that some impossible account from the bible is true are you doing so because of evidence and honest reasons or simply because you want it to be true?

  if the evidence your claim is based upon ends up being proven false would you stop making the claim?.

  if your claim is based only on wishful thinking then you are being dishonest with yourself.

  I do. And no, it isn't. I believe I am real because I can see, hear and touch myself. I touched myself this morning, for instance.

  this is very difficult to write (forgive me for any spelling mistake, i am not a native english speaker).. i cannot tell my complete story on this board - i eventually will, once i have broken the last "link in the chain" that has kept me captive to the borg.

  i can't tell my story, because.....basically i will be known.....as a more or less "famous" jw..... i have been lurking this site for many years, wrote here under another name - this eventually was found out and i had to do "damage containment".

  i had to "go back" and tow the party line....all my family (extended and close) are witnesses, all my "friends" and even work & business relationships are jw.

  I can't recommend divorce, golf, sex, drinking and making bucketloads of money to everyone, but it's worked pretty well so far for me.
