  "If Armageddon came in '75, the new ones would have died"

  that was the reasoning in a recent public talk at my hall.. namely: if the end of the world happened in 1975, then loads of people who had not yet converted or been born would have been destroyed, or never existed, so therefore we should be happy that yahweh was patient and armageddon hasn't come yet.. .

  anyone else see like 5 blaringly horrible problems with this reasoning?.

  i was just reading a national geographic and had a thought we can share with jdubs when we get the chance.

  if the oceans were not so deep before the flood, why do we have all of these fish that can only live miles and miles beneath the surface of the ocean where the water pressure is insanely high?

  if there was a flood, they must have evolved to live there since they would die without all of the water pressure.

  I was just reading a National Geographic and had a thought we can share with Jdubs when we get the chance. If there was a flood, they must have evolved to live there since they would die without all of the water pressure. If they didn't evolve, there was no flood.

  What do People Mean Exactly By "Spirit" and "Spiritual"

  many people distance themselves from formal religion but say that they are a "spiritual" person.. .

  similarly theists talk about the "spirit" as if it is something that is self-evidently true.. .

  i wonder if anybody would like to have a go at defining what they mean by these words?

  let's call it a very ugly version of "joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat" recreated as a musicless "a young life serving god ain't worth living.".

  it included a highly fictionalized account of joseph being abused by his brothers for serving god and being loved by jacob.

  there was no mention of joseph's dreams that degraded his brothers and father.

  Why do I no longer get attacked and persecuted by the demons, since I left JW,s ?

  most jw.s really believe that they ( as we once did ) are promoting gods will, but what if they really are ?

  is it possible that god is supporting them even though they (governing body ) lie, because most jw,s are ignorant of the lies told on their behalf, ?.

  when i was a jw i got attacked by the demons bigtime, but not now, and i can only assume that they (demons ) are happy that i am no longer a jw and are now leaving me alone, cant think of any other reason, has god ever supported a group who were similarly found wanting ?.

  How can I get past the anger?

  i have gotten through so much of the anger i felt toward my parents for their part in my screwed up childhood.

  i know they were just doing what they thought was right.

  but now, as i celebrate holy and special days with my children i feel a new anger because i cannot give them the big family celebration they deserve.

  When I was 10 years old I was out in FS in Woodstock NY.

  Let's start with the obvious. You were 10. At a house. With voodoo symbols. With a woman that was afraid of them too. If that's not setting off any alarms, then I don't know what would. Memories change over time, kids are impressionable, things you are afraid of seem more real.

  Hey guys I can discern what is a dream, and what is malelevant and evil distotion

  No, you can't. If you could, you wouldn't be convinced you had demons instead of stress related issues. Again, they SEEM every bit as real as anything else. That's the point, you CAN'T tell the difference, no matter how real it seems. Hallucinations are defined by seeming real, vivid and to happen in external space without anything outside of your own head causing them.
