  i wanted to start this thread two weeks ago,however i have had alot going on with wifey and the elders,that is another thread.

  to be honest my mind has been on my family.

  i will be able to discuss the book tommorow morning.

  The science that allows me to send data over the internet and use a gps is real science. The science that says the earth is 4.5 billion years old is psuedoscience.

  It's the same science. The EXACT same science. You simply don't understand it.

  One example is Mt. St Helens we know it errupted in 1980 and that is the date of the lava, but when sent to be dated at the labratory it comes back dated 2.8 million years old.

  Yep. I am well aware of that. The lab the samples were sent it to was specifically and only designed to test the ages of things 2+ million years old. Anything not at least that old and their results would be in error, unless, of course, you have another example you want to cite?

  As an analogy, you might as well say weighing things doesn't work because the scale at the gym didn't move when you put a feather on it. You would be wrong in both your choice of tool as well as the analysis.

  If something is in conflict with Christ, then it is not the truth. Because HE is the truth. Simple. He is the one we are told to follow and listen TO. Not the bible, not men, not religion. Just Christ.

  And your authority for what you think it means would be... what?

  What it literally says.

  If you looked at Christ, and listened to Him, then you might 'see' more... since He is the Truth and Word of God.

  If you were honest, you would realize your "look at Christ" line is your version of "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"

  Adam was brought into the Garden (a spiritual place) and what occurs in there is spiritual.

  Ah, that old excuse, "the bible means something besides what it says, it really means what I am saying it means and that reconciles the error".

  Sheesh, redefining anything to mean what you want means nothing means anything.

  A person could just as easily say its a fact that God created everything from humans to apples.

  Not as easily, but they could say it and many do, so I'll give you a "true" on this on.

  And he would have just as much evidence as you do.

  Oh, heavens so. So not true as to be laughably untrue. Again, why do you say such things without bothering to educate yourself and understand the very science you decry, the very science that allows you to send data over the internet or use a GPS?

  If the atoms are decaying how can you misshandle them and make them decay faster?

  The paragraph you quote says you can't. Did you somehow misunderstand what you quoted?

  You say it's “still a work in progress” that means it’s now speculation, not proven.

  That is incorrect. I can know for a fact that something happened based on evidence but still be working out the details of HOW exactly it happened.

  James, I think Adam and Eve are literal people (but very much to do with the spiritual)... and... I can accept evolution of the species. I am not sure how each of these connect. But I have no doubt that they do. The only "seeming" conflict comes from us not having all the specifics/details of the physical world (in this case evolution), and the spiritual world.

  You are describing someting that isn't human and therefore cannot be the Biblical A&E and then presuming you will somehow be right. Bad science, bad reasoning and weak attempt to redefine words to suit your agenda.

  I know how carbon dating works. It doesnt. Dawkins knows it doesnt. He says in his book they have to guess at it.

  It always amuses me when people continue to repeat ridiculously false assertions because they can't be bothere to actually use their brain to learn something, as if repetition will make it true.

  I'm not promoting ignorance on this board. I am pointing out that JW's have to be right no matter what.

  Ironically, you are insisting that you are right about insisting things might not be right.

  BTW, the earth is billions of years old. Insisting otherwise means that 1) you are incapable of understanding the science 2) you are too lazy to understand the science or 3) you have an agenda. I would add 4) you are simply ignorant of the science, but it has been presented to you here so I know that is not it.

  But I do think I have some common sense. And I think much of what you tout is psuedo science.

  Indeed, you may have common sense, but you are wrong about the age of the earth. It takes works and learning to understand the science, something you clearly have not done.

  However, to indulge you, what, specifically, do you think is pseudo science when determining the age of the earth?

  some people recently raised concerns about security of the site relating to whether forum members could be watchtower plants trying to obtain information about people.

  apparently, this was because a previous forum that was setup was either owned by or later handed over to someone who used it to collect personal information about people which was then used to harrass them.

  i don't know all the details, i'm just paraphrasing what i've heard and recognize that it's a concern to some people.. i want to first of all put people's minds at rest: i've been running this site for what will be 13 years next month.

  Close, I think it's actually one I took nearer Jasper - Lake Maligne looking out towards Spirit Island. Hard to take a bad picture of those places and it genuinely is as blue as it appears in the pictures.

  I took some picture like that in the Sierras last year. Beautiful, simply beautiful area. Some of the parts of Canada I have been are also amazing.

  To the OP, I am certain members of the WT check in here. Active operatives, though? Doesn't seem likely or worth the risk. Plus, there is no proof. Anyone that wants to use a lack of proof AS proof of the thing they can't prove....well, they aren't grounded in reality.
