i'm still a semi member of the kh but not at all active and have major doubts when i started reading all kinds of opposing literature.

talked to elders about this and also my father but my father but he still believes it's the "truth".

anyways jist of this story is i gave my father a copy of "crisis of conscience".

LightsOut . . . you've raised your doubts with the Elders . . . given your Dad a copy of C o C (to which he hasn't responded) . . . and then been invited to the CO's talk on "Ray Franz" (which means he may have mentioned you to him)

Life after death

everyone has different views about life after death and whether or not it is a possibility.. as jehovah's witnesses, we were always taught that there is no life after death, that this is the only life we have now and that the wages of sin is death.. .

what are your views on life after death?.

I'm not fully convinced either way . . .

But one of the most compelling phenomenon I've encountered was a television series here in NZ entitled "Sensing Murder".

Each program involved "psychics" helping Police to uncover new facts on unsolved murder cases. The same "psychics" were involved all the way through. They were able to find the murder sites unaided and to reveal details, all of which were in harmony with the confidential police files. Other details were fresh and even led to some arrests. During the course of thier "work" they would openly communicate with the deceased and describe thier appearance and key personal details about them that were later verified with family members etc. Even while trying to hold a healthy skepticism the evidence was quite compelling.

I'm not an expert on "Dinosaurs" . . . so are alligators and crocodiles remnants of the dinosaur age?

If so . . . Noah must have had them on his little wooden boat . . . so they could technically have been pets.

In that case the answer would be "yes"

If you're OK with hating someone with a passion for the rest of you're life . . . yeah so what? . . . go for it . . . it can only do you good right?

I agree with Black Sheep regarding sticking to a single topic . . . otherwise it simply comes across as an attack or self-justification, both of which will get nowhere. It only takes one pin to burst a bubble.

How you present the topic however is crucial, and only each individual can be truly cognisant of his/her particular situation along with thier own true motive . . . so it's impossible for others to judge this.

With regard to method . . . I've always felt Aesop's Fable about the argument between the Sun and the Wind holds a valuable lesson.

Also a well known adage holds true . . .

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
It doesn't hurt to change one's approach occasionally In JYD's case . . . I think his OP makes clear his intention . . . what I can't understand is his reason for posting it . . . approval perhaps? . . . someone to cheer him on? . . . well he won't get that from me.

What was your reaction when first introduced to the "1914" doctrine?

i studied the paradise book, you may remember there was a whole chapter it in about the dream, the tree getting chopped down, time, time and half a time etc.

now i was very young ( but of course spirtualy mature (!

) when i studied this but i remember seeing the person explain this doctrine to me and it was like.... " ok now you see this scripture here?

in our defense i would like to point out that the doctrine of the JW's in the early 80's was alot more plausible than it is now.

Excellent point Heaven. Yes, I recall at my indoctrination period there was a real optimism among everybody. Lot's of socialising and eager anticipation. The doctrines at that time seemed more cogent and scripturally sound than the mishmash that has emerged since.

Additionally, the internet had not been established and external information on the Society was not easy to find. Few people outside of the cult new anything about them. I think we forget how dark the "information world" was then and how the internet has impacted on the situation since. It's lit up the darkness a lot.

The fact remains . . . we've had our eyes opened . . . and we've responded appropriately.
