  GLOBAL FLOOD . . . Did it Really Happen?

  this question became an off-topic sidetrack in another thread.

  i thought it might be worth some debate so posted here .

  the debate is basically between mainstream geological understanding of the earth's history and "young earth creationism" in particular with how the evidence relates to the occurrence of a global flood in the recent past.. a couple of points from the yec website www.icr.org are raised as examples in order to kick things off .

  Big question the prisoner No6 . . . there's a lot to choose from . . .

  God-made gardens

  Talking snakes

  Humans living to 900 + years

  Men who turn sticks into snakes

  Men who stop the "sun"

  Men who have extraordinary strength as long as they avoid a haircut

  Food falling from the sky

  Angels wiping out massive armies in seconds

  Talking donkeys

  Etc . . . Etc . . . Etc

  I don't mean to sound trite . . . but has anyone you know ever witnessed anything like this? . . . Is it reasonable to take accounts of such happenings at face value?

  Apologies . . . I misread an earlier post on another thread and mistook you for an Aussie. That's cool . . . I've seen plenty of Canadians on our fields as well . . . that maple leaf sticks out from a long way off LOL.

  I've heard our two countries do share a lot in common (not size though) . . . salmon and trout fishing as well as the alpine sports.

  If you're planning a trip and want to include some good winter conditions . . . August - September are probably the best months . . . we get good dumps in June/July but the local fohn winds can change things from one day to the next too early in the season. When I first moved here in 1978 the local field closed on 31st December! (almost mid-summer) after a new year party on the mountain. Free styling and boarding are hot sports here now . . . you'd love it.

  Freedom of religion or from religion is something all people should have. However, when a religion (or any other group) takes away the rights of health care and normal social behavior to its followers, I see no reason why a government can't step in to protect their citizens.

  I agree with the above . . . protecting the freedom of the free includes protecting the vulnerable from destructive religious influence. WTS is destructive and targets the vulnerable. Simple

  The Russians seem to have worked this out better than others which is ironic. I think the 200 in the hall should be thankful they were uniformed intruders.

  Living in CHCH NZ . . . we live less than an hour from some of the best snow in the world . . . sorry to make you jealous LOL. We get lot's of Aussies as you probably know . . . I've seen Aussie teams here training etc.

  In my younger years I was up there a lot . . . on planks mostly . . . but my sons are young men now, and getting a taste for the board.

  I believe we are all still influenced by the bitterness of the WT experience PC. And the only counter to something bitter is something sweet. I understand how you must feel and admit to being influenced too much by the bitterness myself. I'm almost an empty nester too . . . and all my kid's are free of the cult and forging sweet new lives without looking back.

  It's all a "purge" . . . and the sooner we're done with it the better IMO . . . so go drink in the sweetness of life . . . just check in on your friends occasionally . . . that will be sweet too.

  hello wounderfull people, i would like to thank everyone for they help before, but i still need moral support, i have made my mind up and i want to thanks a member of the aussie team olympic team for responding to my email.

  it really means a lot for me when i don't have any real friends when a olympic athlete responds to your email and cares.

  she gave me good advice and told me it's possible even thought my situation is hard, that really gave me hope and it was that push that i need to start thinking seriously.

  Snowboarder . . . there will be many here who will be reading your posts and not commenting because, like me, they cannot add any more advice to that offered already. But be assured . . . we are reading them and are very interested in seeing you have the future you deserve and the opportunity of fulfilling your dreams.

  Your description portrays a situation at home which is extremely controlling . . . and hard to endure. If at all possible you need to get out from under that. Please . . . keep close watch on your mental state and seek help if you need to . . . that would not be an "unusual" thing to do . . . rather, it would be wise.

  We're all here for you.
