Snowbirds
by snowbird inthe good folk from northern states who come down during the winter months are called snowbirds.. i'm told they like the milder climate and the lower cost of living.. very nice, friendly people, all of them.. one dear lady from wisconsin volunteered at my g'son's elementary school.. though at first they laughed at her funny way of talking, in no time, she had the kids stumbling over themselves to please her.. snowbirds.. imagine that.. syl.

*completely baffled by what Talesin is carrying on about*
You and me both BP . . . I'm not sure who the nasties are?
Anyways . . . being a child of the sixties and a youth of the seventies . . . I just loved these simple love/pop songs of the era.
Of course we wouldn't always admit to it (rock being the "cool" genre) . . . but I loved Anne Murray, Glen Campbell, James Taylor, Carpenters, Dawn, Frankie Valley, Bread, etc etc etc. When listening to 'snowbird' I could remember the lyrics verbatem! I guess there's some sentimentality attached to a lot of them now . . . but I just love hearing them again . . . they are great songs.
It's interesting to hear of the connection "snowbird"

I walked out of an Elder's Meeting
by AlmightyDog inwell here goes... i apologize in advance if this turns into a long and disjointed rant, but i just have to begin typing in order to keep from exploding.
i realize that what im about to say could seriously jeopardize my anonymity, but i think ive reached the point that i just dont care.
i want this to be over.. let me explain what caused me to rip up a letter and get up and walk out in the middle of an elders meeting two weekends ago.. our boe has been embroiled in a nasty fight for the past 2 years over a certain brothers business dealings.

Well at least they did not try to murder you.
So anything less than that must be OK eh pnt1?
Calling John 8 an "elders meeting" as if it bears any resemblence to such petty squabbles is almost blasphemy.
It's all trotting out one set of arguments to suit the situation for JW's . . . as your post demonstrates.
Where is the identifying "love among yourselves" that mark true Christians here? . . . tell us that!
"Highway of holiness" indeed!
AlmightyDog has seen the light . . . you haven't . . . and that's all there is to it.

I agree with flipper . . . DA-ing or getting DF'd is according to thier warped shunning policies which have only one interest . . . the Borg's retention of members by marginalising dissenters. Tell them NOTHING about your feelings . . . only that you are no longer are prepared to serve for personal reasons, period. I withdrew because of illness 7 years ago . . . have been as outspoken as anybody with my views (on FB etc) . . . but still remain simply "inactive" as far as they are concerned. They either don't care anymore or don't have the balls to confront the issue . . . I don't care which. I still make contact with some old JW friends occasionally . . . others give a wide birth.
It takes a while AD . . . because of years of subjection to the Org's rules . . . to see this debacle in it's true light. It's pretty low-calibre stuff in the grand scheme of things . . . a schoolyard scrap between schoolboy minds . . . resentment, deciet, revenge, hate . . . all the worst in human nature. Keep your head outwardly . . . but do not feel pressured over "respect for Jehovah's arrangement" . . . it's not worthy of an ounce of respect. You are a far better man than what you are turning your back on.
I once watched two elders almost get into a fistfight
It wasn't "almost" for me. Two Elders in my last Congo actually came to blows on a front lawn . . . they were rivalling each other over who would take the recently vacated PO's position . . . pathetic! And they slapped at each other like a couple of girls. I'd already departed mentally and just laughed my head off!
Forget about "them" and what they want . . . your family must become your primary focus now. Good luck, keep us posted.

It's good to hear the "no regrets" part punkofnice . . . I hope that means not too much adverse fallout.
I guess you're now a "patch member" here at JWN.

Through a Darkened Pane
by compound complex inmy frequent walks these last few years about the neighborhood so familiar to me would ordinarily be construed a pleasant enough non-event.
a little mild exercise - taken in small doses to keep the joints operating properly - and a keen eye peeled for the ever-changing face of nature have rendered the daily promenade a suitable diversion.
until recently.

That is terrible what the cult has done in your life LITS . . .
Talk about totally F****d up priorities! . . . I can't think how else to describe it
I have seen your posts previously, but none as comprehensive as your account above. I really just wanted to express my admiration for the uncomprimising stand you made against pedophilia . . . with so much at stake. I salute you . . . you are a person of very real "value"
If 'karma' really exists, or if God really rewards integrity . . . then you have much to look forward to. Like Grace . . . I hope this comes to pass.

We've had a few ups and downs since leaving the cult 6 years ago. I got smacked in the chops by a mental breakdown . . . came on pretty hard and fast and has taken until recently to get on top of. In the last year we've also had to deal with a couple of major Earthquakes which killed some friends and all but destroyed the city in which I live. Over 900 buildings in the CBD await demolition. But the mental illness did hasten my fade.
In spite of all that . . . life right now is surprisingly good . . . like a field of flowers compared to JW life. I have had heaps more time to spend with my family. My wife and I have more fun in each others company. I have much more time now with my three sons, 16, 19 and 23. We spend lot's of time working on their motorsport interests together . . . and we all play music together.
When I began "studying" 30 years ago I was in the final stages of completing my pilot's licence. I am now resuming that interest as well as embarking on a new business venture with my eldest son which is really exciting. I'm very optimistic now and see so many things in a much more positive light than I ever did as a JW . . . in spite of the "wonderful future" I no longer entertain. It's good to be living a reality rather than an illusion.

TotallyADD . . .
I told him my wife and I was just blessed by Jehovah with a baby boy
He told me Jehovah did not bless you with a baby all I did was have sex with someone.
he must have had his own set of scriptures . . .
Psalm 127:4-5 (English Standard Version)
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.As you no doubt know . . . these verses were often trotted out in JW world. Yet again the "truth" gets modified to fit someones personal agenda or power trip . . . very JW . . . very JW.
