Just a couple of important distinctions need to be made with your analogy Eggy . . .

Firstly . . . there is no jury, nor a requirement to submit evidence in God's courtroom . . . for he himself is judge, jury and executioner. His omniscience means all the evidence is before him. The courtroom premise is fundamentally flawed and ill-fitting for this basic reason.

Secondly . . . the "guilty' have been given that status from the moment of conception, by virtue of the actions of another . . . unlike OJ, they have no control over that.

These "clean slates" are all very messy really . . . one who dies is acquitted of his sin . . . a clean slate. But he also needs Christ's ransom . . . to get a clean slate. That's two clean slates. Yet 90% of the worlds population probably have no idea of this ransom and how to get a "clean slate" . . . so they don't even get one, unless they're fortunate enough to be dead already.

OJ certainly got a way better deal than that.

i just read this in our local newspaper this morning and thought it is very interesting.

this law is aimed at door to door marketing by companies but i am wondering if this may end up including religious 'sales persons'.

the comments below the story are worth reading as jw's and religious callers are definitely who many people want stopped under this new law.. .

Interesting that you should mention Acts 15:2 sab . . . especially appropriate following Eggy's little lecture on "context"

It's the complete ignorance of context in Acts 15, which gives rise to the Jehovah's Witnesses death-dealing, mis-guided and unscriptural blood doctrine. Context is an undeniable problem in defending the doctrine . . . which Eggy carefully avoids for that reason.

Before labelling those that disagree or have a different take "liars" Eggy . . . I would suggest a more comprehensive understanding of the word itself, followed by a review of your own previous contradictory claims, before you decide which way the wind is blowing.

have been to a counsellor for a number of reasons and she described my mother as a sadist.. .

To be perfectly honest . . . it hurts.

But Blondie is right . . . hating them is a waste of energy. It shows they still heavily influence our consciousness. In time their influence diminishes . . . and that's actually the refreshing part. Contrary to popular belief . . . they're not irreplaceable. Give that part time . . . but move on also.

Being someone who hates my family is a lonely club.

Hate is a strong word. I have nothing to do with my surviving family and have no desire to. They have never been JW's and were quite accommodating and friendly while I was one.

Since leaving the JW's I have been "disfellowshipped" by them for an undisclosed reason. I don't get notified or invited to Birthdays, Weddings, Births, Christmas, or any family gathering. We have absolutely no contact and haven't done for several years. Even a 7.1 magnitude earthquake that killed 185 people in this city, was not reason enough for any of them to phone.

Fuck 'em.

The Land Masses were once all one and afterward, millions of years ago it broke apart and the continents started to drift hence the term "Continental Drift".

This is true. Pangaea is believed to have formed around 300 million years ago, with the break-up beginning 200 million years ago . . .

It is believed the formation of supercontinents is cyclical and has occurred as much as five times throughout the earth's history.

The New York Times article, when not taken out of context, is clearly shown to not be providing support to a global deluge some 4,000 years ago, but to an unusual deposit of freshwater in the North Atlantic. In paragraph three of the Times article, we see that the ridge ceased to exist approximately 10,000 years ago – long before Noah’s flood.

I think Noah setting up the first global courier service is a better explanation.

Really? i am more inclined to think this was just a bad tsunami / storm type event that maybe covered a large area of land. but the whole globe under water?.... really?

Of course not . . . it's ludicrous. A quick study of climatology and the geological history of the earth shows a period of 12,000 to 20,000 years ago whereby the earth experienced major ice-melt from the last ice-age. Vast areas of melting land-based ice, traps and then releases huge volumes of water. This period would have been characterised by large scale flood events . . . fostering flood legends all over the world, the Bible account of which is only one . . . and typically exaggerated for a purpose.
